APS was the first Solar Job I had. Have been working for APS for 10 years before moving to California to join Amonix team. Loved every moment with the company. The company had great benefits. I learned almost everything i know about solar energy from APS. Was able to work in a R&D environment as well as building solar power plants.

Bullying atmosphere is acceptable
Senior Financial Analyst (Former Employee), Arizona Center – March 14, 2013
Pros: nice location
Cons: everything else. bullying cannot be tolerated!
I was hired to manage a new program in the Law Department. I replaced two employees. The software I was hired to manage NEVER worked. It reflected on me. My "manager" had made so many changes to the software package that it could not function properly. I was blamed. My manager was a bully; she was incompetent as well. She changed my work and attempted – more... to deride me and berate me at every opportunity. I was "laid off" after taking short term disability for surgery. I also complained about her (I was not the first), and was treated with the usual corporate BS you expect. Lots of incompetent employees overpaid to do work they don't understand. That's APS (Pinnacle West). – less

Interesting place and learned a great deal about the utility industry
Supply Chain Management Warehouse Leader (Current Employee), Phoenix, AZ – February 25, 2013
Pros: travel to different location within the city or just out side.
Cons: to many unorganized meetings, unorganized project management
Typical day would be arriving at work greeting employees, perform safety review, plan day out and then to the office to review emails. I would also reach out to business units for feedback to improve warehouse service to their needs. What I've learned is it is extremely important to know your people in/out. Working with manangement is as expected following – more... policies and procedures. Meet with crossfunctional teams to ensure all networks are operating at its potential. The hardest part about the job was creating behavioral change. We all want change immedately when at hand but getting others to buy in is tough when they have done it for 40 years. The most enjoyable part of my job was the personal goals set and acheived as well as the work with on all my employees. – less

Pros: company lunches all of the time
Cons: did not get a break between calls.
A typical workday was taking inbound calls from members starting and stopping their electric service.

Management was great, i liked everyone.

My co-workers and I got along so well when one person needed help on anything we all worked togetther to get the job done.

The hardest part of my job were the deadlines, but i am very competitive so I was always – more... able to get it done.

The most enjoyable part of my job is was my teammates. – less

Excellent learning experience fun place to work.
call center agent (Current Employee), Phoenix, AZ – January 20, 2013
Pros: great learning experience about the utility industry
Cons: having no control over how customers are charged.
Receiving 85 to 100 calls involving starting new services, reviewing billing isues, disconnecting services, managing escalated calls, and sometimes having that one customer that reminds you why you are in the services industry. Also dealing with customer who have lost there jobs services being disconnected and have no means of paying there bills would – more... be the most difficult part of the job. – less

Company going downhill
Field personnel (Current Employee), Phoenix area – January 13, 2013
Pros: lots to laugh at
Cons: benefits getting slimmer and slimmer, bosses that try to control not manage.
This once was a good company with a large family feel to it. Then we started a management change.(they call themselves management but they don't manage). We started to get rejects from other companies such as American Express and Gatorade that have no idea how to run a power company. They promote people that don't have the experience they should have – more... . They don't have what it takes to plan work but know how to manipulate numbers. This is where I learned if you don't belong in a position they promote you. The most enjoyable part is my coworkers after all we are in the same boat . – less

Used to be a great place to work
IT (Current Employee), Arizona – January 5, 2013
Pros: free lunches
Cons: poor management, no one cares anymore, terrible treatment of contractors
For the last 3 years, this place is a mess in IT. Management has been shuffled into areas they know nothing about and morale is about as low as can be. Run, don't walk away!!
