A very demanding job. The communication specialist is nothing like the job description. You must answer phones and field calls for driver testing and accident reports while still receiving 911 calls and answering the radio. All the while your boss says your doing a good job, but scowls and looks unhappy at all times. (Mixed Messages) Oh and the boss doesn't trust computers! The boss lady says she has to be there when you are there because of the training regulations, yet she seems to disappear on Fridays....She also says the log has to be word for word all spelled out because the Captain can't understand abbreviations, even though she knows what it says and so do you.
The hours will suck, 3-11 and 11- 7 no real lunch hour, you eat at the radio desk. there is a full kitchen in H.S.
You will be required to wear a uniform, but only after you have been there for 6 months, because they won't give you one until after that. your boss has a uniform but she refuses to wear one.
The people I worked with except for one were great. I loved the feeling of family.
You do not have time to focus on your job because of fielding all the NON emergency calls for the driver license and the accident reports.
