Artis Real Estate Investment Trust (the Trust) is an open-end real estate investment trust. The Trust invests in a diversified portfolio of income producing commercial properties, including office, retail and industrial properties, located in western Canada, primarily in Alberta. At December 31, 2008, the Trust's portfolio comprised 89 properties located – more... across western Canada. During the year ended December 31, 2008, it acquired a total of 10 properties with gross leasable area (GLA) of approximately 457,000 square feet. There were a total of 1,024 tenants occupying the Trust's properties as at December 31, 2008. Its Winnipeg Industrial Portfolio comprises 16 single and multi-tenant industrial buildings. The buildings within the portfolio total 949,323 square feet of GLA. On June 1, 2008, it acquired the McDermot Parkade. The parkade is ancillary to two office properties located in downtown Winnipeg previously acquired by the Trust.
