Ascend Learning is seeking experienced health professionals to write and review curriculum, test items and other content in our expanding health professions products.
Successful candidates will have recent experience in their field and industry-recognized credentials. Current employment in your discipline is a strongly encouraged; academic experience is highly desirable but not required.
These are ad-hoc, project-based assignments that will not require you to alter your current employment status.
Current needs include expertise in the following disciplines/clinical areas:
Billing and Coding Experts: Ascend Learning is seeking experienced Billing and Coding professionals with current experience in the acute care or physician office setting. We require recent experience in a billing and coding position. Nationally-recognized credentials a plus. The successful candidate will have current hospital or physician office coding and billing experience, and a comprehensive knowledge of the tasks specific to coding and billing electronically, manually and across multiple care environments.
Pharmacy Technicians/Pharmacists: Seeking experienced pharmacy professionals with current experience in the retail or acute care pharmacy setting. For Pharm Techs, AA/AS in Pharmacy Technician program preferred; will consider non-degree with appropriate credential. Pharmacists who supervise Pharm Techs (within past 5 years) are encouraged to apply.
Health Information Technician/Manager: Seeking experienced HIM professionals with current EHR experience in the acute care or physician office setting. We require an Associate’s Degree (BA/BS preferred) in appropriate discipline. RHIA or RHIT credentials a plus; will also consider HITPro certification if combined with relevant work experience. The successful candidate will have current hospital or physician office experience utilizing EMR/EHR software and platforms, and a comprehensive knowledge of the tasks specific to managing medical records electronically, and across multiple care environments.
EKG Technician: Seeking experienced EKG Technicians with current work experience. Must have experience in the identification of EKG rhythms. Cardiac nurses with current acute care experience or other nursing professionals with current coronary care or step down unit experience STRONGLY preferred. Will consider LPN with appropriate work experience. Military Corpsmen or Medics with recent and relevant cardiac experience encouraged to apply.
Medical Assistant: Seeking experienced Medical Assistants with a strong work history in outpatient settings and knowledge on current practice and emerging trends. Individuals with diverse practice experience strongly preferred. Medical Assisting faculty with active, strong clinical components in their accredited MA program are also encouraged to apply. RN/LPN with physician office/outpatient work experience that aligns with MA work also encouraged to apply.
Medical Administrative Assistant: Seeking experienced clerical and administrative professionals with experience in the health care setting. Recent work history in a hospital or outpatient setting required. AA/AS in related discipline required. Must have current knowledge in the duties and work requirements of the Medical Administrative Assistant and their role in health care settings today.

Successful candidates will have recent (within past 5 years) clinical experience and be knowledgeable of recent legislative and regulatory guidelines applicable to their specific discipline. Oversight of a rigorous program of study with a strong clinical component (where faculty are required to actively participate and interact with the clinical sites) may be considered in lieu of current/recent working clinical experience.
