CSR- customer service rep (Current Employee), Schererville, IN –
Pros: flexibilty with my college school schedule
Cons: no room for promotion
This company is very goal oriented. To me they just go about it the wrong way. a very negative work environment. This job made me able to handle any situation and any type of customer while still maintaining a positive attitude and good work ethic

Great staff
Sales Representative/ Home Delivery (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FL –
Pros: bonuses. great staff.
Cons: no benefits.
A typical day at work started with an enthusiastic sales meeting. We learned how to better serve our customers. Management would often give pep talks to sales personnel and delivery drivers and helpers. The hardest part of the job was delivering and carrying furniture. The most enjoyable part of the job was bonuses paid for prompt work.

If you enjoy the highs and lows of selling then this is your place
Design Team Leader (Former Employee), Pasadena, TX –
Pros: furniture basically at cost
Cons: slow months = litte paychecks
Ashley Furniture is franchised owned so depending on which franchise you're applying for determines whether this review applies to you. I work for the one down in Houston, Tx. The potential for money is there, but the decisions of the upper mgmt is what ultimately determines how much money you make.

Very easy paperwork
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Morrow, GA –
Pros: the management team was awesome.
Cons: i didn't have the same hours week to week.
I would train customer service reps, take care of customer sales with a smile, get credit approvals for buyers. I learned a lot about furniture and fabrics. Upper management was always there to give a hand to any staff member in the store. The hardest part about the job was telling customers they weren't approved for credit. The most enjoyable part – more...  about the job was the customers and of course telling them they were approved for credit. – less

Retail Sales Associate (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FL –
Pros: good money sometimes
For the short time that i worked there ,every so often we would be told about loosing our jobs. A sales job like this is so off and on ,so bad that management thinks everone who through the door is buying. Even if your located in a mall where everyone stops in just to look...

Basically, nice place to work. The hours were a little long, but do-able.
Sales Specialist (Former Employee), Victoria, Texas –
Pros: management acknowledged success, driving distance short in getting to work, co-workers got along well, .
Cons: was difficult to be off on holidays and weekends, manager not very personable, if sick must take that day as your day off, if leave for lunch might miss a big sale.
Satisfying and rewarding once assist customer with furniture selection and gained their trust to close the sale. It was very important to me to be available for "service" after the sale. By having customer satisfaction, encouraged me to expect the customer to come back to me for future purchases.

Run away go flip burgers at McDonalds before you work here
Sales manager (Former Employee), Daytona Florida –
Pros: nice customers
Cons: this store is owned by a terrible franchise
I know people who work in this store and more that either quit or got fired. I worked for this organization,. They fired more people then I had ever seen. They trump up charges against people to get rid of them. They do not care about their employees AT ALL.

You are expendable
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Charlotte, NC –
Cons: job security, retail hours
There is virtually no benefits package, its there but its unrealistically expensive and you get next to nothing if you have a family to cover. Compensation is strictly commission and they keep finding ways to lessen your commission to keep money in their own pockets. There is no job security whatsoever, they can let you go at any time, and your commissions – more...  are only paid on whats delivered, anything delivered after you leave they keep. They expect you to work about 100 hours every two weeks, work times are 9am to 9pm, you have you work your days off if they deem it necessary, and you don't get a flat hourly rate so those 20 hours overtime don't matter, you still get payed only on what you sell. If you're selling a lot it can be a decent paying job but this isn't a place to make a career. – less

This Ocala store is not the same ownership as the Daytona store. The Ocala store is now closed and was privately owned, this explains why this employee was happy.
