The AAMC serves a vital purpose as the nation’s voice for America’s medical school and teaching hospitals. These institutions play a crucial role in our nation’s health care by training the next generation of doctors, discovering new medical knowledge, and providing superior clinical care. The work of the AAMC and its employees supports our member institutions and constituents.
The AAMC represents all 138 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools; approximately 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems, including 47 Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers; and nearly 90 academic and scientific societies.
