Assura is aiming to improve the level of services available to the community through local pharmacies. While the stores already offer a wide range of services including palliative care, stop smoking support and help and advice with your medicines, there may be opportunities to further enhance the offerings by introducing services that are already on offer in other Assura Pharmacies.
These may include free blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes testing, as well as the Lipotrim weight management programme.
Nathalie Ng, pharmacist at the Queen Street Assura Pharmacy, is excited about what the new Assura offering will bring: "Assura is a very forward thinking company that offers a range of essential services for pharmacy.
"It is a great opportunity for what was a small pharmacy to now expand and offer a wider range of services, to the community than ever before," she says.
Barry Williamson, manager at the Gold Street store adds:
"We are really looking forward to building on our existing relationships with customers by introducing new enhanced services to the patients who will benefit from our highly professional service in a comfortable and attractive environment."
Assura's vision for a new generation of pharmacies comes in direct response to the Government's plans* to modernise the pharmacy service and integrate it more closely within the NHS primary care services currently provided by GPs and PCTs.
Assura Pharmacy is part of the Assura Group, which is one of the leading investors in, and providers of, primary care in the UK.
It operates a growing network of pharmacies from Scotland to the south of England. The purchase of the Wellingborough stores brings the number of stores in the Assura Pharmacy chain to 14. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
