Atkins is a cleaning company located in Columbia, mo. The managers are great people. The clients, however are extremely hard to please and hard to work for.

A typical day at work involved design, drafting, coordinating documents from engineers. Coordination meetings, site visits. I love what I do and find it all enjoyable

PBSJ was bought out in 2011 and changed the dynamics of the company.

This was a temporary position that I worked for about three months, and it was a very nice company to wrok for.

As previously stated the company is very top heavy with disproportional production staff.

Management is out of touch with what is really going on. Very tip heavy. Very few production people trying to carry the load

Not much can describe the aspect of being able to work with what you enjoy the most, that being Motorcycles of all sorts, alongside Co-workers, friends whom see such a world the same way as you.

Too bad Motorcycle show rooms and so forth are going bankrupt at the moment, as the motorcycle world is truly a blessing, there is nothing even remotely like – more... riding a supersports around the A roads, enjoying the sharp and soft twisties. Atkins merely made my love of motorcycles all the more, and thus made me start riding. – less

A typical day amount to about 10 or 11 Hours, redesigning electrical services which for buildings which had previously been rejected by the client.
What I learned is that good engineers are hard to find! and its important that when managing a large team systems are put in place to manage the work to ensure a consistent standard of work is manatained – more... throughout.
My co-workers were a great bunch of guys and working alongside them was a Joy.
The hardest part of the job was to get people from other teams to talk or inform other co-workers with information that would effect their designs. The most enjoyable and satisfying part of the job was to see your section of the project checked and approved by senior management and go out the door on time. – less

Typical day is filled with mundane tasks, seldom with high challenges working in a defined process'ed' set-up. Good learning opportunities, but limited to technical aspects for an Enginering professional.....little avenues or involvement for learning P&L aspects of the business or role in operations. Management is very good towards staff, building up – more... an easy atmosphere, but lack performance management. Corporate strategy and Bangalore startegy do not align as onshore project leads defer giving projects to Bangalore; hence there is lean growth in headcount.....Leadership keeps on changing.
Co-workers are nice and cordial, but various roles are assumed by a single staff owing to business restructuring, forming a matrix structure....hence, there less cohesion and individualistic culture.
Hardest part of the job is to deliver projects by a collaborative team effort. Team events such as food fest, team outing are most enjoyable. – less

Good job for graduate, basic introduction to Landscape Architecture

I was installing Public help points, cameras, audio, ans,cableing journey planners etc...i meet tasks and deadlines due to station works had hand over dates, but loved the challenge and team spirit we had from the project managers all the way down, as a team we solved problems with solutions and finnished on time on every job.

It is a good company to work with. A professional company with a dynamic culture.

People are are great met lots of friends etc, unfortunately I live in manchester and so I stay up here in the week. Not ideal with a family at home
