DEFINITION
The primary purpose of this position is to provide oversight of accounting functions and general ledger activities of assigned Atlas operating entities. In this role, the accountant must be able to apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SOX requirements to provide accurate financial data for management review. This position is located in Uniontown, OH.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an intermediate level position with no supervisory responsibility. The incumbent may serve as a mentor to other accountants and accounting administrators/associates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monthly general ledger accounting for joint ventures
  • Analyze well costs for all wells that have outside NWI
  • Work with all departments as needed to gather data on joint ventures
  • Act as lead accountant for joint venture audits
  • Follow up on billings, payments and questions from joint venture partners
  • Assure that the company is in compliance with Joint Venture Agreements
  • Become familiar with COPAS standard Joint Venture Agreement
  • Monitor general ledger for 4 total Atlas Entities
  • Prepare monthly Oil & Gas property schedules
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of capital spending for assigned companies
  • Prepare well costs analysis as needed
  • Prepare various monthly journal entries for revenues, expenses, fees and special allocations for Atlas Energy INDIANA

Prepare Indiana Processing Plant reports

  • Prepare other ad-hoc reports as needed
  • Review data entry or code accounts payable as needed
  • Any other job-related duty as deemed appropriate by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of reconciliation processes and general ledger accounts

Ability to communicate across various levels of the organization and to apply troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Skill in the use MS Office, primarily word and excel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience
BS in Accounting or related discipline
2+ years of professional general ledger experience
