Excellent support by management. Never felt like I was working alone even though I worked in DC and the HQ was in Connecticut. This was an excellent training ground for someone like myself who likes to be challenged and is solutions driven.

As a child, I always wanted to be an au pair. I struggled with the new environment in the beginning but soon felt at home and got on with my daily chores. My American family were extremely supportive and always happy for me to run the family household. We are still in contact and they even attended our wedding in 2004.

Au Pair in America (Former Employee) – Boston, MA – September 6, 2016
Lived with an American Family in New Jersey and Massachusetts. Fulfilled all responsibilities attaining to the children on a daily basis, between 5-10 hours per day. Travelled independently throughout the East & West coasts and Hawaii.
Hardest part of the job was balancing a working relationship with the family as well as a personal one. The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing the children grow and develop and helping them do that.
I learnt a lot about myself but also about adults, children and families and how communication can make or break relationships with people. I met a lot of interesting people from all around the world in this job.
I would wake up around 7am, make the children breakfast, get them dressed, drive them to school, plan activities with the younger children. Paint, play outside, bake etc. I would cook the whole family dinner for when the parents got home. Do some light house work such as wash the children's clothes, tidy their rooms etc.

Typical day would start at 7am. i would prepare breakfast and wake up the kids. Feed them and get dressed for school. Would drive to school or put them on the bus. Whilke they at school i would do laundry and clean their bedrooms. Once they return i check backpacks and their note books. We rtelax and have a little snack which is followed by homework , reading time and then a nap. hardest part of my job was when the kids would refuse to listen to me or go into their tantrum phase. The most enjoyable part was when i got to travel with the family and just spending time with the kids.
