High Call Volume but fun work with teams
Supervisor, Call Center Customer Service (Former Employee), Wauwatosa, WI – May 13, 2013
Pros: we were in a building by ourselves.
Cons: last to hear important issues n the organization.
Productive and customer service oriented, handling phone issues and patient concerns. The best part of the job was relating to the customer care representatives, listening and abserving. The hardest part of the job was closing a shift due to budgeting constraints.

Laid back place to work
EA 1&2 (Former Employee), Oconomowoc, WI – May 4, 2013
You pretty much do the same thing everyday unless you are put on a specific project. I learned how to multitask from having to do multiple projects. All the co-workers I met were really nice. The job is not hard at all. Most enjoyable part of the day for me was looking at a finished project like a waxed floor or cleaned room.

Good place to work
Manager of Facilities (Former Employee), Milwaukee, WI – May 1, 2013
Pros: work/life balance, challenging work
Cons: continual change in health care laws leading to budget cuts
My typical day consisted of working with other departments to ensure their equipment and facility needs were supporting their operational needs, planning repairs, projects and ensuring that all documentation was in place regarding local, state and federal authrorities were concerned. The most difficult part of the job was coordinating projects between – more... departments due to the sheer number of people involved. The most enjoyable part of the job were its daily chanllenges and working with different people every day. – less

Great to be able to work from home.
Medical Transcriptionist/Editor (Current Employee), Green Bay, WI – March 3, 2013
Pros: flexible hours, challenging dictations, always learning something new.
Cons: upper managment does not seem to care about the mt department, wants to do away with it and go to dragon software and have the providers do their own reports.
Great to be able to work from home. Very flexible hours. Loved learning all work types in medical transcription/editing from acute care to general office vitits. During the day I may get something as simple as a office vitis for a upper respiratory tract infection to something as complicated as a neurosurgery op report.

very comfortable workplace
Security officer (Former Employee), Milwaukee, WI – February 28, 2013
Pros: computer on line classes, use of "thinking outside the box"
Cons: n/a
Aurora Healthcare was a very desirable place to work, even though my position was eliminated. A typical day at work was unpredictable which I liked, since problem solving had to be used constantly. My co-workers were the best part of the job, being part of a team with so much experience is simply ideal. I have learned so much when it came to computers/cameras/people – more... skills and surveillance techniques. I would say the hardest part of the job was finding the correct resources to get answers to my questions since I worked 2nd shift and staffing was scarce at times. Overall a typical work day was a very positive experience. – less

Spanish Medical Interpreter (Current Employee), Kenosha, WI – February 24, 2013
A typical day varies from office work to interpretation in the field. The hardest part of the job is adapting to constant change and providing adequate interpretation for all patients.

REGISTERED NURSE (Current Employee), Milwaukee, WI – February 22, 2013
Cons: management
Orientation is very quick and there is no compensation for traveling to different sites for computer classes, etc. Patient care is appalling. Aurora is about money, money, money. They want the public to think that they care about their well-being. The reality is they could care less about them or their employees. The turnover of RN's is the highest – more... I have ever seen in a critical care unit. – less

Excellent staff - from the Doctors, nurses, techs, and other staff members
Certified Medical Coder (Former Employee), Germantown and Oconomowoc – February 19, 2013
Pros: good healthcare benefits
Cons: extremely poor supervisors and management
Aurora is a fabulous place in which to work, as the staff at Aurora is wonderful. The doctors, nurses, techs, and other personnel are very committed to their jobs and strive to provide the best care possible for the patients. This promotes a positive working environment - it is a joy to be working in this type of atmosphere.

Exhausting and unorganized company
Legal Service Agent/Collections Specialist (Current Employee), Milwaukee, WI – January 23, 2013
Pros: having a job
Cons: short breaks, micro managing, compensation, no advancement
Depending on the department you are in there there is limited training and no organization. Health benefits are extremely high and compensation could be a strain to live off of if you have health insurance. There is no job security in this company

Unbelieveable Decline
Registered Nurse (Former Employee), Oshkosh, WI – January 12, 2013
Pros: pays better than competitors
Cons: no teamwork, horrible patient care, unethical doctors, no lunches
I started out thinking that Aurora was a fantastic place to work, now it's an embarassment. The majority of the nursing staff is undereducated and refuses to listen to anyone due to their HUGE attitudes. If you want to work alone, without any team work, I'd definitely recommend working for Aurora. I have NEVER seen patient's receive worse care in my – more... life! They pay well to compensate for all of the garbage that you have to put up with. No one there cares about anything other than the almighty dollar and impressing each other. The doctors there are completely unethical. I'd highly recommend taking the small $1-2 paycut and working somewhere that you will be appreciated. Would I ever work for an Aurora again, absolutely not. Would I allow my family members to be hospitalized at an Aurora, even less likely. – less

Great co-workers, nice work enviornment
SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR/ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST (Former Employee), Sheboygan, WI – January 10, 2013
Pros: we were given lunches a couple times a year in appreciation for our work.
Cons: day off, sicktime
The Planetree Values are so important at the hospital & everyone is included in the program you can be more active if you wish or not. It's a great feeling to know that your opinion matters and that what you are doing makes a difference, a big difference. I really enjoyed my work there I pushed myself hard. I would remind myself how would I want the – more... area to be if a member of my family would be using it. I did excellent work. The second job I had at Aurora was at one of the clinics. I missed the Planetree emphasis & all that went with it. My co-workers were all so great, we were like family, including the doctors. That was very nice. The vacation & sick day worked on a 365 day cycle if you used one of your days you would not gain that day back for one year from that date. The system there did not start over in January. That was something new to me when I started there I had never heard of that before. – less
