Transportation Security Officer, Austin, TX - September 23, 2017
The benefits are pretty great but the job can be pretty stressful, time-consuming, and strict. It is definitely not the best environment to work in. You can be dealing with at least a few irate passengers a day which is normal in that environment, but it can take a toll on you even if you have the most patience. The job duties are easy but you cannot afford to make many mistakes. It is also easy to get in trouble and get written up for it. Example, you can be a few minutes late and get written up for it, even if you let them know an hour ahead of time that you will be late. If you get several write-ups for being late, you will most likely get a letter that will stay in your record permanently. I am not a fan of the micromanagement here. You will also get a good number of people who either respect you or disrespect you (in many employees' cases, more of the latter). The most enjoyable part of the job is the breaks, which isn't that great. You don't event have a set schedule for the breaks.
