Sales (Former Employee), San FranciscoMarch 21, 2013
Pros: free lunch fri. bagels on wed.
Cons: healthcare expenses doubled every year. poor management. politic heavy. no upward mobility
good free lunch on Fridays.
The product is well marketed and when it works can be a game changer.
Great people at the worker level.
great location in San Francisco
*High attrition. The ones who saw the disaster coming left and the others who chose to stay are struggling to transition with little to no support through internal channels. There is 90 percent – more... churn annually in the sales staff for good reason.
*Low morale due to management ruling through fear and intimidation. HP executives unresponsive while all the talented Autonomy senior management is gone. One can only dread who is left to run the ship.
*Resources and tools are either scattered and/or broken. Company does not eat it's own dog food. There is no loss of ironic laughter when hearing your co-workers complain about the need for "a better search solution".
*Sales Management System i.e SMS is broken and it will make your work a nightmare if you're on the sales side of the company. They keep promising they will fix it or move to another application but for the years I was there they never changed a thing with it.
*No structured training offered. Meetings that were labeled as training turned out to be just marketing updates with little to no practical use for those in attendance.
*no standardized organizational charting. You'll either have to keep asking everyone you see or roll the dice with the employee address book which provides no insight towards roles and responsibilities.
*The company will seek every possible reason to either delay or deny paying commissions to it's sales people no matter how much they meet or exceed beyond their quotas. I have personally seen and experienced the agonizing frustration of dealing with management when the subject of overdue commissions are brought up.
*work is not merit based. The amount of political savvy you will need to be successful here would qualify you for a seat in congress.

Just google Autonomy within the glassdoor.. All of it is true. Not sure if that site touched on the fact the software is fully slideware.

Worst job experience ever!!!
Account Executive (Former Employee), Tampa, FLOctober 26, 2012
Pros: technology is impressive
Cons: everything else...management, resources, messaging, demand generation, reputation...and more.
Horrible place to be in sales. No structure, arrogant management, lack of respect for customers and employees, bad reputation amongst customers, poor CRM system called SMS that is of no value to sales reps. No territory assignments, so customer list provided, lack of resources, lack of communication, lack of vision or direction...everyone that was there – more... was looking for a way out. If you're approached for a sales position...keep looking, don't waste your time with Autonomy. – less

Great People, but the role was unfulfilling
Associate Account Representative (Current Employee), Southborough, MASeptember 3, 2012
Pros: free lunch friday, great benefits, cafeteria in the building, free coffee & snacks
Cons: compensations & opportunity to advance in the organizations
I enjoyed the co-workers at Autonomy, but the environment is very toxic and there is little opportunity to advance with in the organization. Management does little to solve problems and like most organizations with a lot of middle management it seems that many decisions get bottle necked at the C-Level and take an absurd time to make a decision. The – more... office politics are particulary bad with most divisions constnatly pointing the finger at another department and even throwing members on your own team under the bus. – less

Software Engineer (Former Employee), Austin, TX with frequent interactions to San JoseMarch 25, 2011
Boring work, no performance reviews (but they happily fire for lack of performance), no promotions, raises, rare (if any) and arbitrary bonuses. Majority of senior technical staff walked out so quick they couldn't keep the door from swinging in 2011, so-called 'new management' is all the same, only the names changed. Strings are pulled from HQ in the – more... UK, US-based management busies themselves with politics and talking instead of doing. None of insanely high profit margin is invested into development or tools, Autonomy 'does not pay for software tools'. They continue to hire sales people, while they are unable to replace technical staff, the customer gets the short end of the stick. Short-sighted assignment of development staff to projects changes frequently, feeling is of a consulting shop rather than a software development environment. – less
