Cosmetology Student (Former Employee), Davie, FLMay 31, 2014
A very good school to attend if you want the best education. This is a school, but sometime they make it seems like it was all about the money you can make for them.

Pros: hands on work, being able to work on client's
I was a cosmetology student at Aveda. We had class for 2 hours in the day and then I would start to take client's. I had 5-6 client's a day.

A Productive and Fun Learning Environment
Esthetician Student (Former Employee), Woodlands, TexasMarch 7, 2014
I have previously attended the Aveda Institute Houston and Graduated in November 2012. During my education, I have been exposed to a wide variety of real world experiences that will help my transition into your company. I have visited many different avenues of Esthetics, with my continuing curiosity in the medical side. I have completed Dermaglow Microdermabrasion – more... which I know will further my career in this industry. I am willing and eager to go above and beyond any extra training I need to be a staple in my field. I am detail oriented, self-motivated, and a strong team player, which are knowledge needed to provide your company with a highly productive medical aesthetician. – less

Great place for personal growth and share culture of hairstyling
Cosmetology Instructor (Former Employee), New York, NYNovember 17, 2013
Pros: flexible hours
Cons: sometimes clients where not happy with service
I truly enjoy a place of education, i met very young individuals ready to start a first career, and individuals with second career, everyone engaged to become team players, learning hairstyling and customer service. Hardest part was for students at Aveda to collect so much information in such a short time in the Academy. and apply it to service and – more... to earning a license – less

Guest Coordinator (Former Employee), West Des Moines, IAMarch 25, 2013
Pros: discounted salon and spa services
Cons: having to deal with shop-lifters
A typical day at work included greeting guests, scheduling appointments, answering phones, checking guests out on the register, closing/opening store, stocking shelves, and answering questions guests had about services and/or products. I learned a lot about Aveda products and how each is beneficial. My co-workers were all great and the management was – more... good. The hardest part about the job was dealing with the students who went to the school. The most enjoyable part of the job was the customer service experience and product knowledge gained. – less

Guest Services (Former Employee), Corpus Christi, TXDecember 19, 2012
Pros: free hair appointments, discounts.
Cons: favoritism
Typical day at work consisted of competition for sales, too many workers for not enough incoming sales. I learned a lot of myself and the benefits of Aveda's products (wonderful products). Management seemed to always be on my case but somehow other people would get away with things I had done and gotten written up for. My co-workers were 2 faced, very – more... sweet and friendly upfront, but when your gone or turned around they talk about one another. The most enjoyable part of my job was learning about all the students and their stories of why their in school and what they plan to do when they've completed it. – less

Calm and serene work environment with a lot of energy and life...
Educator, Esthiology Program (Current Employee), Dallas, TXNovember 9, 2012
Pros: 50% discount on products/services, excellent benefits
Cons: working extreme long hours
I oversee daily functions of a spa with nine treatment rooms and a hydrotherapy room overseeing 20+ students while focusing on client retention and home care sales. The most enjoyable part of my job is the look in my students' eyes when I share them life experiences and assist them in mastering their techniques. The hardest part of my job is having – more... to stay upbeat for a 12 hour day and keeping the student's attention during their 10 day. – less

One of the best schools in Corpus Christi
Aspiring Esthetician (Former Employee), Corpus Christi, TXAugust 27, 2012
Pros: great staff, beautiful salon/spa, wonderful products
I learned both theory as well as hands on with actual paying clients. Two days were classroom days and the other 3 days I took clients' appointments. These appointments included 30, 60, and 90 minute facials, plant peels, waxing facial and body hair, lash and brow tinting as well as makeup applications. As a graduate I feel i got a well rounded education – more... and had great one on one instruction. My favorite part of that experience was realizing that i really can make someone feel great about themselves by making them look fantastic, and in turn it was very self gratifying and rewarding. – less
