Balfour Beatty Construction is deep in the heart of Texas -- and beyond. The company provides start-to-finish project management, pre-construction, and related services for commercial construction projects. Offerings include site evaluation and analysis, general contracting, cost consulting, process equipment installation, turnkey medical facility development, capital equipment planning, and closeout services. The company works on a range of facilities including hotels, office buildings, civic centers, airports, hospitals, schools, public buildings, and retail locations. UK firm Balfour Beatty plc acquired the company, then named Centex Construction, from Centex Corporation in 2007.
In addition to its Texas offices, Balfour Beatty Construction has locations in the West, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast. The company has been growing through acquisitions such as the 2009 purchase of North Carolina-based contractor RT Dooley, which it later merged into its Carolinas division. In early 2010 it entered the California market -- it has had its eye on the West - with its acquisition of San Diego-based Barnhart. The following year it acquired Howard S. Wright, which now operates as the company's fifth regional division with offices in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington. In 2012 Balfour Beatty Construction absorbed Charter Builders, a specialist in educational facilities.
Some of the company's more notable projects include NASA Mission Control (Houston), Texas Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys), the Mayo Clinic, The James Madison Library of Congress, One America Plaza, Miami International Airport, and Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World. – less
