Accountant (Current Employee) –  Lafayette, COJune 14, 2016
The culture is terrible. People are cold and unwelcoming to new people. Younger people are not treated well. Nobody seems to have enough work to do. There is a lot of cross training and micro-managing. The technology is poor, no laptops, no working remotely, and no fun!
Pros
Good work/life balance
Cons
Unwelcoming culture

Press Operator (Former Employee) –  Hubbard, OHOctober 10, 2015
worked a 58 hour week, The USW is not a benefit for new employees, no raises until next contract year 2018. You get bumped off of jobs if a senior wants your position for the day. Had less than a week notice for a move to second shift. No vacation days for a year, then have to take the whole week at one time. Only a few people get a vacation day at a time out of whole plant, so don't even get the days you wish.

Facilities Maintenance Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Boulder, COAugust 26, 2015
The employees and management seemed to be less focused on what they can do for the company and more on what they can beg, borrow, steal or manipulate out of the company. Alot of passive aggressive behavior by those that have been there for multiple years without recourse or dicipline from management.
Pros
flexability of schedule
Cons
Low productivity and ignorace seemed to be rewarded??

The design and manufacturing environment is excellent with smart and interesting people. The management structure is bloated and plagued by cronyism.

Good stepping stone to the top, but don't stay too long....
Quality Assurance Manager (Former Employee) –  Fairborn, OHSeptember 10, 2013
Pay is just average
Benefits are good
Culture - too much nepotism
Government contracting - not much job security
Management - needs a complete overhaul; poor decisions led to lost contracts, personnel losses (layoffs), poor products, etc.
They expect more from employees than they are willing to pay
Very sexist environment
Pros
benefits: medical, dental, discounts, education reimbursement
Cons
nepotism, poor management

Technician Specialist (Former Employee) –  BoulderMay 31, 2012
Worked at BATC for 17 years. Enjoyed my work very much. I was considered model employee for 16 of those years. At the age of 56 I was then considered less than disirable. I guess one can make there own assumption as to why I had to resign from my job. Management styles changed considerable over the past 7 years. It's just another corporate job now. The old BATC was a fun and exciting place to work.
Pros
great benefits, pay, fun and exciting work
Cons
another corporate job, don't age!

Don't touch this co. with a ten ft poll.
staff (Former Employee) –  WestminsterSeptember 15, 2012
Run and run hard from the his company. New leaders at the top have lost vision of what the culture is and do not care about their employees anymore. They did an employment engagement survey 4 mos ago and still have not released the results. They lost a lot of business from Pepsi resulting in a closure of two manufacturing facilities and will be laying off people in Colorado. Top mgt is very disjointed, and have no clue. The company used to communicate fairly well, now it is non existent. They won't think twice about kicking a 30 + year employee to the curb which is contrary to the Ball culture.
Pros
good pay, benefits, bonus
Cons
poor management and organizational culture.

Spacecraft Test Technician (Former Employee) –  Boulder, COOctober 13, 2012
As a test tech my tasks were anything but everyday or typical. One day would be performing a spacecraft lift and the next would entail soldering test cables to performing research on different systems. I learned to be flexible and creative and to know what my coworkers needed and were doing so there was little "requesting" for help, it was there without the asking. Hardest part of the job was the stress of making a mistake and the hours required, but the most enjoyable part is when you watch your final product launch into orbit.

Company with a desire to only make money
Industrial Security Representative (Former Employee) –  Broomfield, CODecember 12, 2012
I worked for this company for 3 years and while the executive leadership preach family value and rich culture I didn't see it in the Security department. When presented with problems that needed serious attention regarding disgruntled employees and a hostile work environment; I was told to look the other way. There are lots of problems within the security department of this company. No matter how hard I tried to make changes to improve government requirements I was disciplined and then terminated for trying to do the right thing.
Cons
poor management in their security team

Manager (Current Employee) –  Boulder, COMarch 30, 2013
Wonderful place to work if you are interested in building very cool things that make a difference in the world. The new management team leaves a lot to be desired - reactive and not very strategic. The programs are very interesting and, in most cases, you will work with very talented teams - smart people with an interest in doing things well and creating a collaborative environment.
Pros
great benefits and compensation
Cons
poor leadership at the top

Interesting place to work
Principle Intelligence Analyst (Former Employee) –  Fairborn, OHJune 17, 2013
Ball Aerospace is an interesting place to work. However, most analyst/engineering positions are task centric and continued employment with the company is dependent on renewed contractual work. As such you are hired to work a specific contract and should that contract not be renewed, your chances of remaining with the company are slim.
Pros
excellent pay and benefits
Cons
task centric work, limited advancement

Productive and nice place to work
Principle Intelligence Analyst (Former Employee) –  Fairborn, OHJune 10, 2014
Ball Aerospace treats it's' employees reasonable well. The company however, is task centric which means employees are tied to the specific contract on which they are assigned. This doesn't provide for freedom of movement of employees to explore different work environments within the company.
Pros
excellent pay and benefits
Cons
restricted employee movement

Manufacturing Engineer (Current Employee) –  Boulder, CONovember 8, 2014
The best thing about Ball is the people. There is a good work life balance and the work is interesting. The hardest part of the job is getting used to an Aerospace environment. There is a lot of paperwork involved compared to the private world.
