Checking in club members.
Exercise matters.
Hardest part was when it would get busy the number of people that would need to be checked in was a little overwhelming,
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the gym and my co workers,

CAREER
Sales Manager (Former Employee), Los Angeles, California – May 14, 2013
Pros: extremely competetive, well paid.
Cons: waking up early.
Best job ive ever had, fun, fast work enviroment. Before i worked there i used to be at ballys every single day for hours. Then finally decided to ask for a job, took me 3 months of asking before they finally decided to let me in. I had just turned 18 and i loved working out and thought i was going to be hanging out like all of the other people that – more... worked there but i was wrong, that place was sales sales sales but it was so much fun, the rankings were the most motivating. They make you work hard but pay you as hard as they make you work, we attended Bally Employee Parties, Award Ceremonies, Training and corporate events were you met with alot of the big guys in the company. I would just some times just show up to work on my days off to be at work because i loved it. Stay extra hours. I was 18 years old by the age of 19 i have already made more than 50,000 withought being a general manager.
Receptionist and juice bar girls were always young fit and good looking and treated the sales people lime gods lol awesome job, not going to lie, i felt like a rockstar! Ha! – less

No longer in business in the area
Fitness Coach/Assistant Manager (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO – May 6, 2013
Need I say more? It was an ok place to work. Pay wasn't great, but at least there was the option for commission. Company lacked communication to employees, which led to facility being sold from right underneath us with no warning.

Bad business model + poor management = bad place to work
Personal Trainer (Former Employee), San Bernardino, CA – April 14, 2013
Pros: i learned how to hard sell
Cons: poor business ethics
I will start by saying that it could have been a problem unique to the club where I worked, but Bally Total Fitness was not a good company to work for as a personal trainer. Although I learned a lot about selling training the focus was never on providing good service to the clients.

Nice place to work.
Personal Trainer/ Front (Former Employee), Mount Prospect, IL – March 1, 2013
Pros: fun work place
Cons: income not reliable.
As a personal trainer you would give workouts to perspective clients as well as help with front desk duties. Learned a lot about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. Management was very caring and helpful. Co-workers were very forthcoming as well. The hardest part of the job was creating steady income. The most enjoyable was the workplace and people.

Worst run company.
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee), Chesapeake, VA – March 1, 2013
Pros: lots of great members.
Cons: low pay, shifting sands of management.
From low pay to shaky management, it was not a good company. Bally's was always restructuring management and firing people. Giving less and charging more.

Sales Representative/Customer Service (Former Employee), Bronx, NY – February 26, 2013
Pros: desent breaks, also free healthcare
Cons: slowness of gym
A very fun day. Some days were good and bad but however a laid back job.
I learned how to recruit guest to joining gym and closing them out.
The manager was awesome, very funny, and friendly. Always helped out clients in any way he could.
My co workers were always energetic willing and able to work.
The hardest part of the job was when the gym was slow – more... and barely any guest would try and sign up during the winter.
The enjoyable part was meeting the gym's revenue. – less

Cons: no insurance coverege, long hour days
This company is a good business, I learned how to do sales of memeberships, how to overcome objections and push a sale on customers. Its a fast paced environment with a lot of pressure to sell. A lot of cold calling.

Generating Claims at Bally Total Fitness
Program Instructor Manager (Former Employee), San Antonio, TX – February 4, 2013
I did enjoy the every day challenge of helping individuals pursue their fitness goals. Our main goal was to sell memberships, that was it. The pay was ok, but with my family growing I had to pursue other avenues. That is when I started my second job at Fred Loya Insurance.
