Personal Trainer (Current Employee), Baton Rouge, LANovember 5, 2013
Pros: free gym membership, interesting clients, fun
Cons: bad work environment
I worked anywhere from 0 to 8 hours per day with clients, helping them achieve their personal fitness goals. The management tried to instill a cutthroat attitude in the employees and at times there were too many personal trainers for anyone to build up a decent client base. The clients and members were great, as were some of my coworkers.

I had to – more... balance my graduate research and school with scheduling clients.

Being able to work out for free at a well-maintained gym was a definite plus.

The price the gym charged clients for personal training was too high for the amount that the trainers were compensated (the trainers took only about 40% of the cut) – less

Receptionist (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PAOctober 17, 2013
Pros: free membership
Cons: no raises
A typical day at Bally Total Fitness would consist of greeting members, taking membership payment and answering the phones as well as taking messages for Trainers/Sales Associates. I would have to say the hardest part of the job was dealing with irate customers.

Operation Manager and Director of Customer Service (Former Employee), New York, NYSeptember 27, 2013
Pros: free gym workout in any of the bally brand, vacation time.
Cons: only allowed 1 week vacation at a time.
11 years working for Bally helped me grow into a very productive person as well as grow tremendous customer service skills.
Hardest part to the job was not having an immediate solution or response for the members when something needed my assistant. However, the most enjoyable part of my job was getting recognized by members for resolving or helping – more... them in anything needed. It was very rewarding seen the difference you can make in a persons life the minute they walk through the door and you say welcome Mr.Smith, anything that you might need please feel free to let me know. The look of satisfaction on the members face is the best reward for me as an employee. – less
