I joined BCTR because of my belief in the power and importance of education. The pre-service training was insufficient. I spent minimal time in the classroom, and instead of training residents how to plan, most of the instruction was spent practicing techniques with other residents. The people were great. It was still a very supportive atmosphere.
However, when I entered the classroom, I was not at all ready. The training was not enough to prepare me for my actual classroom. The administration at my school was very negative as well. They were not supportive and began pushing me out from the second that I got there.
