A typical day as a substitute teacher is to follow the teachers plan that is laid out for the day/week. Engaging the youth in a positive way so they feel valued. What I learned from this experience is that youth who are having challenges at home have a difficult time following the school system. A typical day for me as a front desk secretary was usually very busy. I loved helping the students whenever I could and the teachers as well. The staff was extremely friendly. The most enjoyable part of the job was naturally the children. The hardest part of the job was typing up suspensions of students. It broke my heart at times.

nice environment for elder people , i'd rather work with more motivation and getting a higher level , i believe this work is more fine for retired fellows , where they can spend their time at.

My day is filled with activities. It is a fast paced environment, requiring independent judgement and flexability.

Some schools in Baltimore County are stellar. Others are just like being in the city. Be prepared to laugh and to pull your hair out when disciplining some students. Always call for back-up when a situation becomes too hard to handle.

Teachers aide to adhd/add, emotionally disturbed, autistic, learning disabled children. Enjoyed seeing kids learn and develop. Very rewarding job.

Work can be rewarding and very challenging. I worked with all special needs children. Many with emotional issues.

Assisted special needs children and directed a summer camp.

This is a VERY time consuming job! You often work at home! I have a family, but when I get home, I have to lesson plan, collect data, or grade papers. Many times I do not get to bed until 10:30 -11:00 pm because I am doing work. This is a VERY stressful job.

Greet parents and children from drop off to pick up. Educate and evaluate children strength and weaknesses. Instill moral values in children. Interact with children during more waking hours than parents do.

I teach in a middle school. I teach a reading class and co-teach with regular education teachers. This year I was the testing coordinator for my department, testing students and writing educational assessments.
