A Learning Experience
Summer student for the Technical Support Team (Former Employee), Toronto, ON –
The technical support team I worked for divided its members into different departments. I worked for three: Product Operations, Harris Private Bank and Equity Research (Capital Markets). A typical day at work was answering phones calls, responding to emails and interacting with users in-person. When users had problems with their computer, laptop or – more...  blackberry, I had to support them promptly. I learned to configure Blackberrys, Dban hard drives, image a computer and install applications. I developed my researching skills and troubleshooting skills. My coworkers were friendly and were optimistic to training me. The hardest part of the job was the long 8-hour days. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people, working with professionals, putting my skills to the test and experiencing something new. – less

Great place to work
Mail Extraction Operator (Former Employee), Burlington, ON –
Working night shift we would receive, sort and open mail. I learned how to operate the mail sorting machine and the machines in which we opened the mail as well as some data entry on the computers. The management team was excellent and very easy to get a long with and the co-workers were great, many of whom I am still friends with. The hardest part – more...  of the job was the fact that it was nightshift. The part I like best was the competitive nature of the job we had amongst the staff. – less

Great Work - Poor Workers
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Fort St. John –
Pros: great company
Cons: expectations are sometimes unrealistic
I loved the company of BMO, But the management and alot of the long term employees brought alot of drama and outside work things inside of work. The managers didnt understand that people get sick, kids get sick, daycares call for children to be picked up... the expectations were high, which in the banking standards are great for customer service, but – more...  it makes it hard for an employee to feel welcome or happy when every move they make is judged. Even your outside life (maybe an adulterous husband....) makes your job become "unstable" because your workplace puts their nose where it doesnt belong. Should I have an opportunity to work for BMO anywhere but fort st john, I would take it. – less

working as a teller
Teller (Former Employee), Rexdale, Ontario –
Pros: lower rate interest on loans
Cons: long travel hours to and from work
I enjoyed working in the bank. I held a cash, accepted deposits and paid out withdrawls, balanced my cash in the evening. Opened and closed accounts, posted the general ledger. Calculated interest on accounts before computers were used.
I learned how to deal with customers who were upset or concerned about one thing or another.
The management that I – more...  worked under were for the most part pretty good and approchable if I ran into a problem.
My co-workers were great to work with.
The hardest part of the job was the fact that it took so long to get to and from the branch I was working in. The job itself I found very enjoyable.
The most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with the many customers. Learning their names and having them call me by name and wait in my line-up for me to help them with their business. – less

Bank of Montreal was a wonderful place to work. I gained a lot of lifetime experiences. I also made some great friends. It was rewarding when speaking with clients and being able to turn an irate customer to one who would actually become loyal and promote our company.

Manager, Interest Rate Risk (Former Employee), Toronto, ON –
Pros: opportunities for training/advancement
Cons: long hours
A few years ago the finance department was a great place to work, a sense of a team, and a genuine commitment to fellow employees. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case lately.

I enjoy working at bank of montreal.
customer service rep (Current Employee), etobicoke –
I enjoy working at the bank. I have been there for three years now but, I would like to see myself move to a different level but it is very difficult if you dont get support from the management. I really enjoy working with others and be able to help someone out. Banking is good but , with all the expenses it is very difficult for me to be able to make – more...  a comfortable living, especially for those of use who are single parents and with just one income, That is the main reason that I am seeking for a another career. I am a very hard worker and do put 110 percent into my work. – less
