Baptist Memorial Health Care, an integrated system of hospitals and ancillary patient-care settings, offers an exciting environment for progressive post-graduate pharmacy training in a program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
As members of the Department of Pharmacy Services, residents have the opportunity to provide a wide range of advanced clinical services, including patient-specific pharmacotherapy, clinical consultation (including pharmacokinetics), and provision of drug information to patients and health care professionals. The program provides structured opportunities for independent learning through various clinical rotations.
The opportunity to practice in an integrated health care delivery system that provides exposure to both private and academic medicine is a particular advantage of this residency program. Residents' specific interests and needs will be used in developing individual programs. As part of this program, residents will:
Gain experience in direct patient care and practice management
Participate in the administration of pharmaceutical care
Learn about medication use management through membership in the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, as well as other focus groups
Complete an original project that contributes to the advancement of pharmaceutical care and present it at the Southeastern Residency Conference for pharmacy residents
Have extensive opportunities for teaching and student precepting
