Intellectually challenging, bright people, but the industry is challenged
Marketer - Director (Current Employee), New YorkFebruary 3, 2013
International workforce, very diverse
Weekly travel
Solid management
Respectful work-life balance
But the industry is very challenged
Most enjoyable part of the job is the opportunity to learn from very bright people, as well as meeting clients and getting your ideas challenged.
Hardest part of the job is the overall industry environment which makes innovation difficult.

sales and service adovsor (Former Employee), Premier callcentreNovember 6, 2012
Pros: onsite cafe, gym, ample free parking
Cons: not alot of help with family life, childcare let downs etc.
Premier Banking advisor, with Barclays for over 12 years. Origionally forced to sell loans whilst not telling the customer PPI was included, hence the claims now for PPI rebate. The better you sold, the harder the management were on you, It had a well you reached your targets last month attitude, why not this month. Back stabbing 2 faced management, and a union that is no help, as its reps are also Barclays employers, Bum lickers get promotion, so if u have a long tongue, this should be the company for you .

Large Bank With Global Reach
Senior Financial Analyst (Current Employee), New York, NYOctober 8, 2012
Pros: good benefits, nice midtown location, people are friendly
Cons: no career mobility, low compensation levels, no communication with your line manager
-Company generally pays lower than the rest of the street
-Internal mobility is VERY difficult at Barclays
-A lot of the managers don't help their team members in areas of development and are more concerned with the bonus they themselves willl get
-Scandals - recent LIBOR rates has put pressure on the bank
-Ok place to work at the present moment
-Management needs to value human capital
