Pros: staff, always busy, discount; assisting customers
Cons: healhcare, weekends and evenings required, short staff
A typical day involves counting out cash drawers for assigned cashiers, delegating assignments/posts (cash wrap, sales floor, fitting room, etc.) as well as issue/inform of lunches and breaks; monitor hourly sales and encourage selling up; maintain appearance of sales floor, assist customers; resolve customer complaints, issue/approve returns: refunds
– more... and exchanges; receive and process incoming shipments , prepare items for sales floor and store remainder in stock room. At this job, I had many responsibilities and developed a strong sense of time management, where I perform the duties of my assigned tasks in the most efficient manner while simultaneously focusing on another, ex: perform inventory while storing surplus clothing in stock room. I have also had the opportunity to strengthen my leadership qualities in having to manage/supervise employees. The hardest part of the job was deciding which job to perform first, as it was almost always a given that not everything would be finished by the close of the business day because we were always short staff (not enough employees due to budget). However, the environment was friendly and team oriented and we all helped each other out to make sure the most crucial tasks were performed and completed by deadline. – less

I do not agree at all!!! I worked at Barneys for over 5 years and it was the worse 5 years in my life. Management is so unprofessional and terrible . Also HR treats employees like slaves. I hate Barneys and I will continue always talk about my missrable 5 years from managers to HR. Trust me never ever go there!!!!
