Administrative Assistant III (Former Employee) – Polk County, FL – January 16, 2018
Work environment has deteriorated over the years. Benefits are still decent but yearly cuts are being made and they are not what they used to be. Management is starting to be comprised of faculty members so there is a lack of business sense.
As a desk assistant, the work tasks are not stressful at tall. They are extremely manageable by anyone because it does not require excess force or knowledge. The only problematic thing was the management by the bosses and managers- they were extremely unorganized and took a long time to reply to complaints and concerns made by employees.
Able to have leisure time to do other small minimal tasks
This institution has wonderful employees that's a pleasure to work with. However, the university continuously lacked support in providing the necessary resources to complete job related tasks in the field.
Working for Barry University was an excellent experience overall. It gave me leadership experience by managing a residence hall, office experience by helping with paperwork and student activities as well as personal social experience by available to help assist all resident with any concerns and/or questions.
My workplace is very productive. I spend all my time getting work done in a comfortable environment. the enjoyable part of the job is that it is a simple job so not much unless the equipment breaks down.
Barry is a beautiful place yo work. Most people are friendly and the benefits are great! Plenty of paid days off and great benefits. Management has its favorites and raises are non existent. There are social and professional circles within the organization that makes the environment uneasy and separated. If you don't fit in or play the office politics, you may not move up in the ladder. The hours are flexible and their are many events to be involved in throughout the year. Alot has changed recently due to budget cuts; many perks no longer exist. The company seems to be reluctant to evolve and continues with outdated ideas. With new leadership and fresh ideas, it can be very successful!
