Multimedia Sales Coordinator (Former Employee), San Jose, CAJune 11, 2014
Your coworkers are the best thing to come to work for.
The job itself its fun but the company assigns brand new people with no management skills to manage large groups and management MICRO MANAGE their employees.

April 23, 2015

I've been with the company in San Jose for almost 6 years, and I witnessed that most front line sales managers were promoted from within. I do agree that the coworkers (essentially the company culture) are one of the best part of working here. It's too bad that one negative experience with maybe one or two managers that micromanage their employees, have led people to believe this is more prevalent than what I perceive.

Good place to work for back in the early part of this decade
Pressroom Manager (Former Employee), Hayward, CAOctober 18, 2012
I took care of the facility that produced three bay area newspapers from 1997 to 2007. The company closed the facility and laid off all of my emloyees except for three of my assistants and myself. We were transfered to another facility and lost a significant amount of pay. I worked for this plant as the pressroom manager until February of 2009 and they completely shut down this pressroom to consolidate and as a result everyone lost their jobs.

Customer Services Rep/Advertising Assistant (Former Employee), HaywardMay 29, 2011
Cons: low wages
The newspaper industry is not a good place to work if you are looking for job security. Most people in the 21st century are getting their news from other resources such as the internet, twitter, facebook, IPhones, and of course the television. The initial training to learn the job was okay. However, when additional training was needed. I was thrown under the bus most times and I had to rely on other employees in different departments to show me how to do new job tasks that my supervisor assign me via email.
