Great place to work if you do not need to earn much money. They have gone through a number of food service contractors and executive staff. It is sad to see a lovely hospital not be able to support themselves without contract food service.

Patient Access Services Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Saint Petersburg, FLJuly 31, 2013
Though going through many management changes, Bayfront is a strong hospital that is rapidly growing. The peronell are friendly and dedicated. Management is supportive and aware of needed changes. Improvements are being made to both the facility as well as for the team members in order to improve their working environment. The only downfall is the pay, being not for profit the pay is lower than most hospitals in the area. However this will hopefully change now that they are part of a for profit chain.
Pros
rapidly growing
Cons
benefits increased, pay did not

Trauma Registrar / Trauma Services (Former Employee) –  Saint Petersburg, FLApril 29, 2015
Nice co workers and a great educational place to work. Most are good at seeing the positive you do instead of the negative
Changes in resent management have made communication a problem and takes to long to get things worked out when there is an issue.

Support Services Manager (Current Employee) –  Saint Petersburg, FLMay 7, 2013
Typical day includes touring the units to speak to nurses and nurse managers concerning support services (security, plant operations, environmental services and food and nutrition services). Report any issues to Executive Director and contact appropriate managers for service recovery or commendations if applicable. Speak to patients if necessary and coordinate with all support services department managers and staff.

Most enjoyable part of my job is training and presentations to clinical staff each month..

Although I have a strong grasp of Excel and enjoy the challenge of creating workbooks and spreadsheets to work together in harmony, I do not enjoy the manual data entry, would rather assign.

My co workers are a nice bunch of people.
Pros
discounted lunches
Cons
health insurance is expensive

Security Sergeant (Current Employee) –  Saint Petersburg, FLJuly 6, 2014
Working in the Security Industry can be fun, there's a lot to learn and much that you can teach. I enjoy all aspects of being a Security Supervisor. What I've learned about this field is each institution is different. The make up may be the same, but how it is run is different. Management styles are different, and how they protect their institution is different. The hardest part of being a entry level Supervisor is convincing Senior Management what you need to manage your position. The most enjoyable part of the job is having staff members rely on you to help them through difficult situations.
Pros
ability to help others
Cons
short pay

Full load surgical Operating room with Traumas, oh my!
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) –  Saint Petersburg, FLJune 28, 2013
management is the toughest part of this operating room, and since I still work here, would not like to elaborate much upon the fact that it (management) is not available most of the time for questions and answers, and does not seem to have the time to offer help to O.R. staff. This has consistently been the consensus for the years I've been working here.
However the surgeons are wonderful and truly like family when you are in a room with them for say, 5 hours.
Also the co-workers for the most part are extremely helpful and supportive of one another and it is a beautiful thing to witness. I am impressed and happy to work with these smart and talented individuals.
Pros
on-site bayscript retail pharmacy, where we employees can and do fill all of our prescriptions
Cons
food in the cafeteria is not good at all, and it is very expensive. management, all the way up to the director, is never seen and extremely rarely available for questions and input.

Good hospital, great benefits, very poor management. Some units are managed so poorly that nurses from other units, refuse to float there. Inexperienced staff.

Downhill under new management
Support Services (Current Employee) –  St PetersburgJuly 16, 2013
Prior to being bought out, it was a really great place to work. Under the new management, support areas and long term managers are leaving voluntarily AND involuntarily under declining conditions. Many support areas are also being outsourced even though no job losses were promised. There a serious lack of training but an expectation to meet unreasonable demands. Things are pretty bad right now. Seek employment elsewhere.
Pros
co-workers (those left)
Cons
new management (top heavy), expensive cafeteria

Bayfront was a great hospital to start a career at. Sometimes it could be extremely busy and overwhelming. The emergency room and babyplace is always busy.

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Saint Petersburg, FLApril 15, 2012
Great place to learn, amazingly intelligent MD's! Management rotated many many times and the last set got rid of all of the nurses. It is known around Pinellas as a huge joke of how the management purged everyone.
Pros
educational, diverse, good nurses, high acuity, high volume
