Baylor
Public Safety Officer (Former Employee), Dallas-Fort Worth, TX – May 18, 2013
Pros: great people!
Cons: poor management.
Baylor was a great place when I started, but it went down hill. Its a nonprofit company but all they care about is budgets and money. The people that work there are great, but Ive seen so many good people quit, get fired or layed off, its a sad thing.

Poor Leadership in Nursing Department
NICU Nurse (Former Employee), Baylor All Saints Fort Worth – May 4, 2013
Pros: hard working, compassionate nurses
Cons: poor hospital leadership
In every key area Baylor fails to provide an environment for their nurses to thrive: compensation is among the poorest in the area; Their nursing leadership fails to model the values of the organization; no job security as supervisors change frequently and incompetent and vindictive people assume leadership over departments; management cares about numbers, – more... not their hard working nurses; work / life balance - they are currently trying to force nurses to come to work after they have already fulfilled their weekly obligations (but they will cancel you at the drop of a hat when their numbers are down) – less

Incompetence rampant and no diversity in management
System Administrator (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – April 18, 2013
Pros: stability
Cons: see the summary
The Baylor Health Care IT dept is a direct contradiction to the medical sector of the hospital. Incompetence is rampant throughout the department. Most disturbing is the gross lack diversity at the management level. Baylor IT's track record of minorities in regards to minorities in leadership position is borderline criminal. The good ole boy/girl network – more... to the 10th power. The fact that the dept has been rife with scandal over the past 10-15 years is a direct result of the dept hiring practices in terms of management personnel. From a manager embezzling 1.5 million to a VP bringing a consulting company in which he had an ownership stake, makes what the dept stand for the biggest lie in North Texas – less

Pharmacy has the bones of a great dept, but the brains and brawn are lacking.
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Dallas – March 27, 2013
Pros: benefits start on day one
Cons: with the pharmacy? too many to count.
Very little supervision or support from management. The pharmacy gets a new director on a yearly basis. If you are a technician at Baylor you will hear statements like "that's not my job" daily. For example, if a medication is STAT it is perfectly acceptable for a technician to refuse to deliver it simply because they are not the designated delivery – more... tech. If you are someone who just wants to get a paycheck and have no regard for patient safety or your fellow co-workers BUMC is the place for you! If you actually enjoy being productive and earning a paycheck look elsewhere. – less

My typical day at Baylor Healthcare Systems
Secondary/Medicaid Collector (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – March 27, 2013
Check system for AR report work 50 accounts a day or 250 accounts a week. Appeal medicaid account and some commerical accounts and sending certified mail. Writing off small amounts. Correcting information over the phone with insurnace representive for timely payment. If explanation of benefits showing payment, request payment to be posted. If some light – more... billing is needed than it is corrected and resent or sent to biller for corrections of audits. – less

My Emergency Management Internship with Baylor Health Care System has been an all around great and valuable experience. I have learned and observed the details that are needed to successfully implement Emergency Management in the Healthcare field. I work under amazing leadership which allows me to constantly stay motivated. I wish there were more hours – more... in a day to continue working and learning for this organization. – less

Excellent support system
Chaplain (Current Employee), Grapevine, TX – December 19, 2012
Pros: emotional and spiritual support
Cons: not the highest paying at this time
The hardest part of my job is when a patient or family member experiences loss, like death. Fortunately, when this happens, Baylor has done a fantastic job of creating an environment that supports its employees by providing critical incident stress management, as well as a variety of other employee assistance programs which pay for counseling.

My co-workers – more... are all very positive and I have yet to hear anyone complain about their job.

The management has taught me how to take care of myself, and they continually stress self-care, including leaving work at work. – less

PACS Administrator
PACS Administrator (Former Employee), Dallas Metroplex – December 10, 2012
Pros: the staff are some of the finest people that i've worked with.
Cons: long hours, below average compensation, chronically understaffed department, no support from management, serious problems fall of deaf ears.
I have worked for four companies as a PACS / CVIS Administrator and working for Baylor was definitely one of the worst experiences in my entire career. Salaried, a 60 hour week was often the norm. There was confusion about the benefits and I worked a year without health insurance because of HR's incompetence.

We were understaffed and everyone in my – more... department was looking for work with some other healthcare provider. There staff turnover in my department was almost 90%.

PACS Administration is highly stressful job, and without the support of the appreciation from the employer it makes the job that much more difficult. – less

Stable company, difficult to advance.
Financial Assistance Coordinator (Current Employee), Dallas, TX – December 2, 2012
Pros: encourages healthy lifestyle
Cons: difficult to advance
Overall BHCS is a good company. The management team for my department is knowledgeable about the medical industry and is very open about what changes - good or bad - that are coming down the pipeline.

Baylor Crdentialing Office was very demanding.
Administrative Assist - Credentialing Depart. (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – August 21, 2012
Pros: working for baylor.
Cons: working with management in the credentialing office.
Not enough room to write about a typical day. It was like squeezing blood out of a turnip.

Management was very demanding, military style.

Co-workers for the most part were great.

Management style was the hardest part of the job.

Working with co-workers to complete packets during credentialing time each month.

Baylor Heart
Employee (Former Employee), Baylor Heart – June 24, 2012
Cons: what i said above
I worked there for about 3 years. My director did not support at all. I was the lowest paid in my department and that was a quote from her. She did not go to bat for me. The HR is the worst I have ever seen. I don't know how the lady in HR lives with herself every day. But she seems to enjoy ruining people's lives. No advancement what so ever. I was – more... told I was going to get advanced in the department and she gave it to her best friend. When I left she only had friends that she either graduated with or personal friends from outside of work working with her. Can't compete with personal friends. Basically at Baylor, they will wrestle you out of a dollar if they can. It's the Baylor way. – less

Enthusiasm – January 24, 2013

I applied for job positions over there for several times and every time all I get is just a reception email. No following up contacts, not even a rejection call or email (I would actually be happy if they did that). They have the worst human resources I've ever known. I tried to call them and see how my application status went for several times and their HR employees were never there, all I spoke to was the voicemail system. Finally I paid a visit to the actual location and got their local HR department number and made a phone call to them. The lady that answered my call was rude and clueless as to what she was talking about. If their HR is messed up like this, how would I expect to get customer service with quality in future? Sorry, baylor, but you have lost a potential customer.
