Bayview Retirement Community has been involved in community relations and service for nearly fifty years. In the last few years, we moved from "involved" to "committed and intentional" in our approach to reaching out to the community and providing support that is truly needed by our neighbors and friends. While Bayview has always been a good neighbor, it had been less visible in the past than today. While wonderful things have been done over the years, it was just seen as part of the mission. With the commitment of our Board of Trustees, management, staff, residents, and families, we will continue in our mission of service as we enter our second fifty years in the community.
Bayview's mission is: "Transforming the experience of aging by creating opportunities for healthy, spiritual and purposeful living for our residents, children, staff, and the greater community."
For Bayview, "Mission-Purposeful-Community" is critical to our future success and viability not only for Bayview but also for our entire community in these times of economic change and social uncertainty.
Since 2008 when Bayview received the Aging Services of Washington award for social accountability, Bayview has provided more than 25,000 hours of volunteer benefit to residents and the external community. Some of the organizations that we work with and serve are:
Queen Anne Chamber
Church of Mary Magdeline
Queen Anne Rotary
Friends of Queen Anne Murals
Queen Anne Helpline
FOLK-Friends of Lower Kinnear Park
COE elementary school
St. Anne School
Department of Neighborhoods
Seattle Senior Services
Night Watch neighborhood program
National Asian Pacific Center on Aging
Seniors Making Art
New Beginnings Women's Center
Aging Services of Washington
Bayview, by way of mission, desire, and character is powerful, which is a great place to start as we share who we are with our neighbors and extended community.
