CD5 Construction Coordinator - Civil


This role functions within a 1 day to 3 month time horizon while supporting the NS Construction Superintendent and the North Slope Construction Supervisor(s) and assisting the Contractor execute the work with a focus on HSE and efficiency

1. Direct Accountability - fully accountable for the output

HSE - Reports to Construction Superintendent

Perform jobsite walk-downs during jobsite visits.
Participate in Contractor toolbox and weekly safety meetings when on site.
Review Contractor Task Hazard Analysis (THA)/Job Safety Analysis (JSA)/Job Hazard Analysis during jobsite visits.
Perform safe performance recognitions during jobsite visits.
Input pro-active measures information into a participation database.
Coach/mentor the contractor foremen and craft to comply with HSE policies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices to ensure best possible HSE performance.
Understand and enforce adherence to all permit stipulations.

Training - Reports to Construction Manager

Ensure all compliance training is complete and up to date

Data Retention and Management - Reports to Construction Manager

Ensure all files, information; e-mail, etc. are in compliance with policy regarding records retention.

Execution - Reports to Project Leader

Oversee the Construction Contractor in the safe and efficient execution of the work (requires 90% of your time).
Resolve CPO Readiness Checklist action items prior to mobilization, as assigned.
Participate in the pre-job meeting.

Risk Management - Reports to Construction Supervisor(s)

Assist the Construction Supervisor in the implementation of identified risk mitigation/avoidance plans as assigned.

Schedule - Reports to Construction Supervisor(s)

Verify the Contractor's physical progress submittals.
Complete Project Completion System Job Cards for validation of physical progress.

Budget and Cost - Reports to Construction Supervisor(s)

Review Cost estimates and provide input, as assigned.

Integrated Change Management - Reports to Construction Supervisor(s)

Communicate design, materials, constructability, productivity, implementation, etc. issues as they arise during construction.
Assist in the effective implementation of the management standards and procedures, as assigned.

Construction Completion, Pre-Commissioning, & Startup Support - Reports to Construction Supervisor(s)

Support the implementation of completion plans via the SAP Project Completion System (PCS) or other system.

General Duties - Reports to Construction Superintendent

Perform daily tasks, and complete other duties as assigned by the Construction Superintendent to support the CD5 Project.

2. Indirect Accountability - affects the decisions of others

HSE - Reports to Construction Superintendent

Safety Leadership - Commitment to an incident free workplace is paramount. Demonstrated safety leadership shall be initiated through attendance and participation.
Advocating a zero incident culture
Weekly safety meetings
Provide weekly input to the Predictive Indicator tool.
Contribute to weekly Contractor Safety Management, craftsafety, and daily toolbox meetings.
Participate in Safety standups/downs, as required.
Participate in incident investigations associated with assigned projects, as required.
Participate in safety assessments.
Monitor and report Contractor work crews compliance with JSA/JHA requirements.


Civil Expertise Expectations

Must be able to communicate to civil contractor the permitting, and environmental expectations as required by state agencies.
Knowledge of North Slope ice road construction and maintenance methodology.
Ability to read and understand survey grade stakes and understand the blue prints associated with all aspects of civil work.
Knowledge of ice, gravel, concrete, asphalt, blue topping sub grades, erosion controls, drainage control and the ability to make recommendations to the civil engineers when issues arise.

Required Skills:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Alaska Driver's License.
Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, to include producing, proofing and analyzing reports.
Ten years or more of progressive construction management or engineering experience on oil / gas and Civil projects in an engineering and/or supervision role.
Initiate and follow through to completion on a variety of projects.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills a must.
High level of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality


Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Military Experience
Prior Alaska North Slope /Alaska Oil & Gas or Construction experience with gravel and ice.
Previous major construction or engineering experience in Alaska or a similar arctic environment.
Strong demonstrated leadership, communication, public speaking, ability to influence, and organizational skills.

Term: 12 months

Work Location: North Slope

Work Schedule: North Slope Rotational / As needed to support the project
