In 1998, the Company was launched with the goal of introducing students to high-quality nonfiction resources that were designed to accelerate student achievement. Leveraging 20 years of publishing experience with Fortune 500 publishing companies, tom Reycraft and his wife and business partner Sera Reycraft developed BEC into a leading publishing company—offering a wide range of language and literacy resources to students.
The Reycrafts’ strategy has been to produce high-quality, visually impactful, and innovative educational resources based on the latest educational research by experts in language and literacy. Quality has been built into every step of the process---from the writing, design and graphical elements, print and production process, to sales support, distribution, and customer service.
Immediately, many schools and districts signed up for BEC’s offerings and both its domestic and international market began to grow.
Today, BEC is large enough to provide a full range of English literacy solutions, but the company still retains its dedication to quality and customer service that many big publishers can no longer afford. BEC prizes its close relationship to the customer as well as its nimble and entrepreneurial spirit. These guiding principles will continue to help BEC identify new educational trends and quickly produce innovative and effective instructional materials. – less
