A World of Opportunity without much advancement
S G & A Procurement Agent (Former Employee) –  Montvale, NJAugust 12, 2012
Benjamin Moore & Co is one of the better employers for anyone who can hit the ground running. Training is something sorely lacking. A fairly experieinced person can do quite well provided they are satisfied with minimal pay increases and little chance of advancement.
This is a small company which is part of a huge corporation. Thus you have some of the small company culture and values mixed with the benefits available to a large corporation.
There is a lot to be learned if you're willing to put the effort into the project(s).
Pros
free lunch; good benefit package
Cons
poor training program, little backing from management

Customer Service (Current Employee) –  Flanders, NJMay 17, 2015
A typical work day is full of hustle and bustle. The company has taught me a lot about the industry. The management is half and half; some are very knowledgeable and some are completely clueless. The hardest part of the job is multi-tasking in a high-paced environment.
Pros
Management
Cons
Free Lunch, Good Benefits and Awesome Paid Vacation and Holidays

Chemical Reactor Operator (Former Employee) –  Johnstown, NYApril 4, 2014
Manufacturing is difficult when you're surrounded by personnel who strive to make you look bad so they themselves look better while not improving upon their own skills.
Pros
Benefits and Management were good
Cons
People in manufacturing seemed to be ot for themselves and not for the company

Use to be a good Company.
Forklift Operator/Receiver (Former Employee) –  Milford, MAJuly 22, 2013
When Benny Moore was privately owned, we were a solid, stable company, after the buyout by Warren Buffet, we became "just another company trying to make a buck and by pinching here and there". We used to do VERY VERY good according to Consumer Reports Magazine, Now I think they're WAY below average paint, Wit the exception of a few product lines. The downsize in 2009 in Milford was tough on quite a few people, there was a lot of reverse racism, by keeping not the right person for the job, but by keeping lesser paid people with only a few people who really knew what they were doing. They even brought back a few people who "retired" instead of people who got laid off, because they were "friends of management" Started of as a great Company to get into., now they just hire temps for 2-3 yrs..
Pros
Was a good crew to work with!!!
Cons
The HEAT and the spills!! 2000 gals of Alkyd in the Tank room WTG!!!

Amateur Management
Manager (Former Employee) –  Montvale, NJMarch 24, 2015
Once an individual is hired their experience becomes irrelevant because consultants are there to provide knowledge. Senior leadership across the board possesses a culture of blame and micromanagement. Anything interesting about the position or the passion for the product fizzles out quickly.
Pros
Free lunch for employees
Cons
Management

A business that does not understand its customers needs
Sales (Former Employee) –  Northeast RegionNovember 18, 2013
Benjamin Moore and Company makes superior products. It earns execptional profit selling in the "super-premium" sector, but It performes poorly selling in the larger "premium-commercial" sector, because these products are not cometitively priced, making many of their dealers dissatisfied. That is why many of my co-workers are unhappy, loosing their market share to Sherwin-Williams, HomeDepot and others. Until management gets a grasp of this situation, this business will continue to flounder.
Pros
Superior quality "super-premium" products
Cons
Bad Management

It's an exciting time to be part of the Benjamin Moore & Co. team. The people are amazing, hard working and intelligent-- always willing to work together towards something huge. The leadership team has felt its aches and pains, but is aligning all departments to meet company goals.

As an employee, you get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling from the people. You are proud of the amazing Benjamin Moore products.
Pros
Free lunches, people, flexibility, vacation

Senior Accountant (Former Employee) –  Montvale, NJMarch 11, 2014
Has gone through complete management change in 2012-2014, including the layoff's of most people with 10 or more years of service and 5 or less years. Was once considered one of the top 10 companies to work for but will have to be reevaluated by new employees and regime in the next few years.
Pros
Free Lunch
Cons
All new management and employees, need time to evaluate.

SHIPPING ASSOCIATE (Former Employee) –  Milford, MAApril 23, 2012
Benjamin Moore was a great place to work. I made new friends and got along excellent with my co-workers. A Typical day was driving around on the forklift picking and packing orders customer service. Managment was easy to get along with. The hardest part of the job was pulling 14 hour shifts sometimes. The most enjoyable part of the job was all the laughter.
Pros
amazing people

working 14 hour shifts sometimes
