IT Morale Is Horrendous
IT (Former Employee), Montvale, NJApril 1, 2014
Pros: free lunch (but barely edible)
Cons: everything else
IT is the worst place to be in this company currently. Management has no idea how low morale is. Totally clueless

Senior Accountant (Former Employee), Montvale, NJMarch 11, 2014
Pros: free lunch
Cons: all new management and employees, need time to evaluate.
Has gone through complete management change in 2012-2014, including the layoff's of most people with 10 or more years of service and 5 or less years. Was once considered one of the top 10 companies to work for but will have to be reevaluated by new employees and regime in the next few years.

Bad place to work
Accountant (Former Employee), MontvaleJanuary 16, 2014
Pros: free lunch, great coworkers
Cons: everthing except for the two pros
Stay away from this company. Not a great place to work anymore thanks to new management. People are being let go from every direction. Ridiculous hours are required to be worked. Not the same company anymore

A business that does not understand its customers needs
Sales (Former Employee), Northeast RegionNovember 18, 2013
Pros: superior quality "super-premium" products
Cons: bad management
Benjamin Moore and Company makes superior products. It earns execptional profit selling in the "super-premium" sector, but It performes poorly selling in the larger "premium-commercial" sector, because these products are not cometitively priced, making many of their dealers dissatisfied. That is why many of my co-workers are unhappy, loosing their market – more... share to Sherwin-Williams, HomeDepot and others. Until management gets a grasp of this situation, this business will continue to flounder. – less

Use to be a good Company.
Forklift Operator/Receiver (Former Employee), Milford, MAJuly 22, 2013
Pros: was a good crew to work with!!!
Cons: the heat and the spills!! 2000 gals of alkyd in the tank room wtg!!!
When Benny Moore was privately owned, we were a solid, stable company, after the buyout by Warren Buffet, we became "just another company trying to make a buck and by pinching here and there". We used to do VERY VERY good according to Consumer Reports Magazine, Now I think they're WAY below average paint, Wit the exception of a few product lines. The – more... downsize in 2009 in Milford was tough on quite a few people, there was a lot of reverse racism, by keeping not the right person for the job, but by keeping lesser paid people with only a few people who really knew what they were doing. They even brought back a few people who "retired" instead of people who got laid off, because they were "friends of management" Started of as a great Company to get into., now they just hire temps for 2-3 yrs.. – less

A World of Opportunity without much advancement
S G & A Procurement Agent (Former Employee), Montvale, NJAugust 12, 2012
Pros: free lunch; good benefit package
Cons: poor training program, little backing from management
Benjamin Moore & Co is one of the better employers for anyone who can hit the ground running. Training is something sorely lacking. A fairly experieinced person can do quite well provided they are satisfied with minimal pay increases and little chance of advancement.
This is a small company which is part of a huge corporation. Thus you have some of – more... the small company culture and values mixed with the benefits available to a large corporation.
There is a lot to be learned if you're willing to put the effort into the project(s). – less

Hard work but fun
SHIPPING ASSOCIATE (Former Employee), Milford, MAApril 23, 2012
Pros: amazing people
Cons: working 14 hour shifts sometimes
Benjamin Moore was a great place to work. I made new friends and got along excellent with my co-workers. A Typical day was driving around on the forklift picking and packing orders customer service. Managment was easy to get along with. The hardest part of the job was pulling 14 hour shifts sometimes. The most enjoyable part of the job was all the laughter.
