Dysfunctional
Anonymous (Current Employee) –  Exton, PAJune 11, 2017
The sales department is not a good place to be in this firm. Commission structure that is confusing and changes frequently without notice, along with your territory. You won't make any real money until the end of the year if and only if you surpass 100% quota. You spend a lot of time building a pipeline and then have it swiped away and switched to something else. Broad, massive, sweeping knee jerk reaction changes take place every year without intelligent thought or process applied. Good old boy mentality runs rampant throughout the organization. For a software company with progressive products there seems to be a glaring lack of progressive management and sound business principals. Who is steering this ship?
Pros
Good people and wide variety of software solutions.
Cons
Lack of direction and low morale.

UX Researcher (Former Employee) –  Exton, PAApril 24, 2017
Self-paced work, many meetings and labs, working with cross-department teams. Management built the family business into a global company, which is amazing, but they work hard and expect the best effort of everyone else in the company. Working with users of our software and learning what they know, what their lives are like, what their challenges are - that was always interesting!
Pros
Great campus and cafe, health-minded company.
Cons
Very busy area in the suburbs, long travel to airport/city.

Mechanical Engineering Intern (Former Employee) –  Metairie, LAApril 17, 2017
Its a decent place to work without too much stress and is definitely highly recommended. The crowds highly multiculatural which gives us an opportunity to connect and learn with people with other cultures.

HR Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) –  Exton, PAApril 17, 2017
Upper management at Bentley Systems seems confused, which trickles down to the rest of the company. It is hard to feel like you are truly valued for the work you do at this company.

The benefits, holidays, bereavement, vacation, exceed those of all of the other companies that I have worked for. They also give very nice bonuses. A very good place to work.

Benefits and being clipped back a little bit each year. A little top heavy in middle management. The work culture is still very nice place to work. They also allow some work from home.
Pros
Working from home on occasion
Cons
Top heavy middle management

Sales Manager Corporate Accounts (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAMarch 27, 2017
The company would like to go public and is in a constant state of restructuring in attempts to increase perceived value to shareholders. Over the last few years they have had multiple large scale layoffs.

Bentley Systems a wonderful work environment, with great growth potential
Human Resources Specialist (Former Employee) –  Exton, PAMarch 3, 2017
My career at Bentley Systems was very fulfilling. I was able to grow and learn in a fast pasted environment. During my time at Bentley Systems I was able to take many human resources classes to enhance my human resources skills. What I enjoyed most about the job was conducting new employee orientations and recruitment of new employees. The most difficult aspect of the job was making sure all employee policy and procedures were followed consistently through out the company.
Pros
Career growth

Student Ambassador (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAJanuary 20, 2017
As a student ambassador, I am in charge of deliver the knowledge and software that Bentley offers to the LMU students. A job like this requires interaction between the company officials to plan events and have regular check ups and the student body. In this sense, I feel like Bentley fully supports me on every move.

Highly productive and fun place to work, friendly people and a ping pong table.
Intern (Former Employee) –  City of Sunrise, FLAugust 20, 2015
Working at Bentley was a very satisfying experience, my typical day included modeling bridges and testing out various Bentley software as a result of which I am thoroughly familiar with many of the Bentley software used in the civil industry today. The sunrise office is a terrific place to work with awesome co-workers and a ping pong table, a small soccer field which also doubled as a volleyball court. The hardest part of the job was verifying the software outputs which was hard but fulfilling. The management is very good and they recognize hard working employees.
Pros
Emphasis on health

Bad career choice, but a flexible place to work
Senior Application Engineer (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJuly 24, 2015
Bentley is now a very known company in the AEC software industry, so working here will earn you a brand name. But be careful which area you are getting yourself into. Civil and Structural related fields are in high demand, and they are leading the industry, but other areas will take you nowhere.

People here are mostly friendly, although some rotten cases are there as well.

You can work from home while at Bentley, which is really great. But now-a-days you can do so in many technology companies.

Base Pay here is at least 20 grand less than the industry- with average benefits, standard 401K and average health benefits. Incentives are better, but does not make up for the less base pay.

Middle Management is very poor. Although many of them are technically savvy people, they have no clue what they are doing. Upper management is better, but seems out of touch with the front liners.

Overall this is not a great career progressing company, but it is a good place to work if you want flexibility to work from home and keep work-life balance.
Pros
Good people, flexible environment, good benefits
Cons
poor pay, poor management, no upward mobility, bad career choice

Good company, highly political
Senior Project Manager (Former Employee) –  Exton, PAJune 10, 2015
Pros
Solutions that are technically innovative but rarely achieve depth in any one discipline (other than the core MicroStation and ProjectWise products).

Cons
Lots of politics, positioning and squabbling in middle-management. Because the company is privately held it is difficult to move very high up, so management just keeps shuffling the deck.
