Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mass Spectrometry. The Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the lab of Dr. John M. Asara is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study cancer cells and tumor samples using state-of-the-art mass spectrometry to determine the defective signaling pathways driving cancer growth by hypothesis driven approaches to proteomics and metabolomics. The postdoctoral candidate should be well-versed in both HPLC based tandem mass spectrometry using label-free and stable isotope labeling techniques and possess skills in biochemical techniques. The candidate will work towards developing techniques to develop clinical assays to apply hypothesis driven proteomics and metabolomics in a clinical setting by collaborating with clinical researchers to obtain tumor material. The postdoctoral researcher will work alongside the BIDMC Mass Spectrometry Core and will coordinate efforts with the core for mass spectrometry equipment scheduling and maintenance. Knowledge of bioinformatics and statistics is an advantage. Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. degree candidates are encouraged to apply.
