Kennel attendant is primarily responsible for caring for all the animals in the hospital. Their main responsibilities consists of: cleaning cages, feeding, bathing, record keeping, cleaning the entire hospital facility, and assisting clients, receptionists, technicians, assistants, groomers, and doctors. Kennel attendants must also possess skills to make minor repairs of hospital property. Candidates must be in fair to good physical condition. Job requires a lot of walking back and forth from different areas of the hospital. Candidates also must be able to handle and restrain fractious dogs and cats. They must be able to lift and carry animals and bags of dog food over 40 lbs.
One year of experience in the animal care field is required. Kennel staff must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must be able to read, write, speak English, and perform simple math. Good communication skills are very important. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus, but not required. Candidate must possess good computer skills and must be familiar with both Word and Excel. Working both weekdays and weekends and including holidays is a must.
