Associate Scientist II, Clinical Operations (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – May 18, 2017
Great place to work, just uncertainty of future. Random layoffs always occuring and hard to talk with upper management. Benefits are great as there is great health and dental insurance. Along with 3 weeks vacation to start and unlimited sick days.
SCIENTIST (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – May 18, 2017
Best benefits in the industry; good science; employee focused; inefficient management structure (research); nepotism/favoritism; Top heavy; multiple management layers leading to ineffectual decision making
Very productive company with a good work-life-balance
Development Support (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – May 5, 2017
Where I worked was several hours earlier than the "core hours" and it would generally be a medium-paced environment. This was due to my specific group would liase with other company groups, which provided the opportunity for insight into other aspects of a biotech company.
Very open to helping their employees advance their knowledge and invest in themselves.
Many potential candidates rate Biogen as their most desired place to work. I learned this as an interviewer. I enjoyed many good years at Biogen.
Senior Supervisor (Former Employee) – RTP, North Carolina – May 5, 2017
Very employee oriented place to work. Onsite cafeteria. Excellent training program. Many advancement or lateral move opportunities. Very safety oriented. Separate company takes care of cleaning GMP facility.
Very high tech, usually operators work with "state of the art" equipment.
High tech/fast pace environment can be intimidating for some workers.
Scientist (contractor) (Current Employee) – Research Triangle Park, NC – April 20, 2017
Pros: 1. great benefits and lots of perks. 2. Work life balance
Cons: They need the exact experience to hire you. So either get in here when you are a fresh graduate, or get exact experience from other pharma and then get hired. For those who has lots of indirect experience, it is hard to start at comparable level in here.
Software Developer (Contractor) (Former Employee) – Research Triangle Park, NC – April 13, 2017
Worked as a contract IT developer. Contract ended due to new HR policy limiting contractors to 18 month stints. Despite that, enjoyed working with permanent employees who treated me with respect and kindness.
Great place to work and ample opportunities to learn
Project Manager (Former Employee) – Research Triangle Park, NC – April 11, 2017
Worked on many great international projects which required flexibility regarding the time of day for meetings. For example if there was a meeting with a team member in Japan then it meant night or day for some of the individuals.
Associate Director (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – March 29, 2017
Was at Biogen for the boom years - company was very generous and a comfortable place to work. But company fell on hard times with the failure of some clinical trials - this led to perpetual rolling layoffs, massive turnover in leadership and a lot of uncertainty.
