Legal Clerk, Indianapolis, IN - October 3, 2013
Each person in the office has specific roles, such as suit prep clerk, or garnishment clerk, or judgment clerk, but we were all cross-trained and we all assisted each other in all areas as needed. We had a managing attorney, an assistant attorney and an immediate supervisor. We worked well together as a team and organized events outside the office to encourage commaraderie among the employees. We had a regular eight hour per day, five day a week schedule. Overtime was authorized on rare occasions. The hardest part of the job was a lack of communication between headquarters and our satillite office due to procedural changes that we were not always made aware of until after it became an issue with our clients. The most enjoyable part of the job was the room to learn and grow and be innovative. I learned how to do skip tracing and to how to implement effictive and efficient methods of accomplishing our daily tasks. I worked closely with the supervisor and created procedure manuals and maintained those manuals to keep up with the rapid and constant changes we dealt with.
