Very busy workplace
noc technician (Former Employee) –  Orangeburg, NYNovember 25, 2015
Very busy workplace where you have to work various teams to get your job done. The only bad about that is that you are always waiting on another team to get their job done, before you could do yours. Another bad thing is that they want everything done "the Bloomberg way", which means you can only use their home grown scripts. At some point it is like if you don't even know anything; which would not be good if you want to work for somebody else. Anything you learn in Bloomberg will be useless anywhere else. One really bad thing about Bloomberg is that they like to promise their contractors direct employment when positions are available. This causes the contractors to compete with each other instead of working with each other.

Best Company Ever
Consumer Marketing Associate (Former Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 25, 2015
The best company you could work for, hands down. Between the culture, open space, food, building, perks and overall atmosphere, working at Bloomberg is like a dream.

Productive and Open
Financial Data Analyst (Former Employee) –  Skillman, NJNovember 18, 2015
Good place to start off a career. But it can get very difficult to progress due to bureaucratic management. It is a very diverse working crowd, so not difficult to fit in. Hiring process is extremely competitive. Your passion for Bloomberg is weighted high in even scoring a preliminary interview, over and above your qualifications or experience, which I found slightly odd. Otherwise, it is a good place to be, but only for 1-3 years. If you want to widen you skill set, this is not a company to be in long term. Compensation is the best when compared to industry standards, especially health benefits.

A company that truly believes in giving back to the community
Senior EA to Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 23, 2015
One of my favorite reasons I loved working at Bloomberg, is the love, desire for employees to volunteer in their community with family and friends. I love that Bloomberg's Philanthropic ventures are wide range! While at Bloomberg I raised over $30,000 in honor of LLS and Bike MS

Market Data Analyst, Contract (Current Employee) –  Princeton, NJOctober 16, 2015
Fun place to work, plenty of company events, all about the numbers, so if you work hard it's a good thing, if not, good luck. Office is aesthetically pleasing, one weird factor about HR is that they do not hire from within. You are also expected to work through your lunch break depending on your team, since the cafeteria is built-in.

M/A Private Equity Intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 14, 2015
The company in general is a fantastic place to work, people are nice and culture is unbelievable. However the day to day was not very stimulating and I caught myself clock watching often.

News Administrator (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAOctober 6, 2015
Working as a news administrator for this company was thoroughly enjoyable in every aspect. It was a great opportunity and I grew immensely professionally and I learned a lot over the years working on various tasks & projects. I worked with some of the greatest and brightest people. It was a gratifying experience, supporting the various teams. I enjoyed the travel and getting real face time with those that I supported from afar. But most of all, there was a real sense of what I did mattered and that my name was respected and my efforts appreciated.

Communications Assistant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYSeptember 26, 2015
The company is a great place to build many different skills and experience. Growing internally is great but compensation is lower than market rate when you stay too long which is in-line with the rest of the industry.
Pros

no clear career paths, no clear benchmarking for compensation

Free food, free benefits, good pay...and that's it for the good
Data Analyst (Former Employee) –  Princeton, NJSeptember 10, 2015
Unreachable metrics, culture is one of fear, backstabbing, unachievable expectations and little to no training. I've worked for 5 companies over a 30-year period and this was, by far, the worst when it came to culture. It's great, if you're in your 20's and have never worked anywhere else in the corporate world. But, if you have experience in other companies, you'll find that the stress level and incompetence at a certain level of management is unmanageable. From what I learned, most people over the age of 35 don't stay more than a year or two.
Pros
Free food, great vacation, very charitable, free benefits
Cons
Metrics based on nothing truly measureable, unapproachable management, culture of fear

Instructional Designer / Facilitator (Current Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 25, 2015
Lovely office spaces and very environmentally conscious. Overall, a great place to work. Very open culture where you're encouraged to share your ideas and opinions. You're also able to approach senior leaders freely. CEO will say hello to you in the elevator / getting coffee / in a philanthropy event. Very philanthropic organization. Most profits go to charity.

Great culture, poor workflow
Mortgages Financial Data Analyst (Current Employee) –  Princeton, NJAugust 23, 2015
Management did not perform the roles of monitoring/guiding the team towards their career development. Data analyst position is not actually an analyst position unless you put in the time and initiative to take on side projects that are require analysis. Otherwise this role is more so just a data entry job.

However the culture is great and so are the benefits! I would recommend to work at this place if you enjoy doing the same thing every day (routine) and if you are looking for a stable job as a mother or father of a family.

Fantastic Product and Company
Business Development (Former Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 18, 2015
Bloomberg has one of the most unique cultures in the world and an unparalleled product and business philosophy. The Customer-focus of the company encourages new ideas and innovation and the company is very open to taking risks with projects and people. Bloomberg provides the best service to internal employees as possible (the company runs on the terminal too, so everyone eats what that make) and its quite rewarding to get support for anything you need. Need a new chair? Done. Need to go to London to work with a colleague? Done. It takes time, but once you build a reputation with your colleagues and others in the company, you can achieve tremendous results.
Pros
Great technology, people, product.
Cons
Limited senior management advancement opportunities in some divisions.
