At Blue Ridge HealthCare, we are fully committed to raising the standard of care in our community. Our affiliation with Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) - the largest healthcare system in the Carolinas and a nationally recognized leader in the field – is an important and exciting part of that commitment. Our partnership with CHS complements the – more... services available locally through Blue Ridge HealthCare by providing ready access to more advanced care and physician specialists and subspecialists when needed.
The centerpiece of CHS is CarolinasMedical Center (CMC), a 777 bed Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospital in Charlotte, about 90 minutes east of Burke County by ground and less than 30 minutes away by MedCenter Air. CMC is a Level I Trauma Center– one of only five in North Carolina - and serves 25 counties in North Carolina and northern South Carolina. In addition to The Sammy Ross Trauma Center, Programs of Excellence at CMC include The Carolinas Heart Institute, Carolinas Neurosciences Institute, Carolinas Orthopedic Institute, The Children's Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center, The Women's Institute, The Blumenthal Cancer Center and The Transplant Center providing heart, liver, kidney and kidney-pancreas transplants.
The MedCenter Air EMS helicopter serves as a critical link between Blue Ridge HealthCare and Carolinas Medical Center. The helicopter and crew typically respond to cases of potential life-threatening illness or injury, and the aircraft can be airborne within 30 minutes of a call. When called upon, MedCenter Air takes to the sky whatever the hour, day or night. Its primary purpose is to transport - quickly and safely - patients who require immediate or critical medical care. The vehicles and crews are in a constant state of readiness, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Blue Ridge HealthCare maintains helipads at both Grace and Valdese Hospitals. At Grace, flight crew quarters for MedCenter Air are located in the EMS station located directly behind the hospital, since MedCenter Air is currently based here two days a week. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
