A lot of coding and documentation of existing code.
Programmer/Analyst (Former Employee) – Laguna Hills, CA – September 5, 2013
In this job, mainly, I modified existing BBx Basic code. I also did an amount of work maintaining the EDI system, using Gentran Basic (of which I have much previous training and experience). I also did a lot of documentation of older (spaghetti code) computer programs.
I had a week of training of the MAS90 software. I learned BBX Basic.
Management was good, a pleasant place to work. The other programmers and QC people were very much different than I am culturally (younger and single and party type), but, I got along with them very well.
Hardest part of the job was to read through ancient spaghetti code and figure it out and document what it was actually doing. This was not structured modular programming, hard to follow.
I enjoyed being given assignments. Everything was done in a very concise specific manner, all particular functions were always with same line numbers, all variables for specific functions were always the same, and although cryptic, one always knew what a section of code was supposed to be doing by the line numbers, and always new what a variable was supposed to be. I liked the consistency.
