No idea what they are doing with commercial structure
Employee (Former Employee) –  Danbury, CTDecember 13, 2017
Worse than 80% of companies on their commercial structure. Have commodity products, but invest a ton of money in sales overhead positions that try to sell additional value to customers that will never see the value prop. Give awards to people that generate 15 new TRx worth maybe at most $5K, but cost the company $250K in salary, wages, and wasted time.
Pros
Great vacation time
Cons
Will be out of pharma in 7 years, except may highly Specialized areas.

Digital Marketing Specialist (Former Employee) –  Saint Joseph, MODecember 8, 2017
Working in the digital marketing department I was responsible for engaging every other department while driving products.
The unique structure of the company creates "Siloed" or segregated teams. This creates friendly competition between teams to drive ingenuity, while also sharing it within the umbrella of the company.
Pros
Subsidized Lunches

Tank Farm Operator / Warehouse Tech (Former Employee) –  Petersburg, VANovember 27, 2017
My typical day was to offload tankers into large storage tanks. Leaned about maintaining and running a tank farm, chemical hazardous, cleaning of storage tanks and the maintenance to sustain a clean running operation. Management was great as it pertained to getting personnel trained on duties and training on safety. Workplace culture I felt was great and everyone helped out or gave advice whenever it was needed. The hardest part was being called in to change tankers in the middle of the night. The most enjoyable part of the job was the people and still having a friendship with most.
Pros
Healthcare, pay and Christmas Party
Cons
Middle of the night call in

Good place to work overall, not a public company so management doesn't have to worry about shareholders. Many changes recently which may have changed the culture

Fun work environment and office culture within manufacturing dept.
Manufacturing Associate (Current Employee) –  Fremont, CANovember 19, 2017
The manufacturing department is a fun place to work. Lots to do, and can be stressful at times, but thats the life of manufacturing. Bosses are supportive and co-workers are generally helpful. It's important to maintain this type of culture in a team environment.

Very Productive Place with Ping Pong Table and Games People Never Used
Quality (Former Employee) –  Danbury, CTNovember 2, 2017
BI was a family centered workplace but it shifted values to attract Millennials and win awards over substance. They focus on making more health and if they make the right decisions will have products to remain a private company moving forward.

The hardset part of the job is providing details and results foe the fragmented matrix management.
Pros
Remote working was allowed
Cons
moving towards outsourced models for everything including core R&D

Scientist II, Bioprocess Engineering Upstream (Former Employee) –  Fremont, CAOctober 24, 2017
very nice building for employees to work at, but there is no cafeteria to provide hot meal for lunch. People are very nice to work with and great people culture at BI. Unfortunately BI hires too many contractors, each individual can only work at BI for 2 years max., and 98% of contractors can't be converted to full time.
Pros
Nice working environment
Cons
contractor based company
