Pleasant place to work, good people and good facilities.
Mechanical/bench fitter. (Former Employee), Derby –
Pros: good shift pattern, and excellent rate of pay.
Cons: sometimes asked for too much too late.
Bombardier is a good place to work with the team-leaders and other members of the work-force showing patience and diligence toward new team-members when teaching them new aspects of the project.

awful place to work
engineer (Former Employee), west mifflin, pennsylvania –
Pros: free lunches
Cons: job security, discrimates against older employees
This company discriminates against American workers. Massive layoffs in 2011 targeted Americans over the age of 45. Management mandates hiring and retaining Engineers from India. This company bribed employees with prizes to vote in Best Company to work for contest.

Low in productivity no longer a fun place to work
test technician (Current Employee), plymouth –
Pros: half day fridays;
Cons: lack of career progression
Company seems to adopt a one rule for one and different rules for others with favourtism amongst staff, particularly in production. There is little in terms of career progressive avenues to climb with certain individuals picked for roles who may not always be suitable for the position, they call it 'a succession process'. I have been with the company – more...  for 8 years and worked hard in my role but, have been succeeded by those who I feel are less qualified ans experienced and mature enough as indivuduals. I would not recommend working for this company. – less

A slow paced workshop that inspects and maintains perths trains
Train assistant (Current Employee), Nowergup, wa –
Pros: one bbq every couple of months
Cons: lack of work which makes the shift long
To perform duties marked out on the inspection sheet, measuring and changing brake pads when needed, changing gear box oil, general condition of under carrige, the wear on discs and wheels.
I have become familiar with most jobs on the inspection sheet and can carry them out with confidence and safety.
My co-workers all team together to make sure the – more...  train is ready for traffic at the end of shift. – less

terrible place to work
permanent employee (Former Employee), Montreal –
Pros: good salary
Cons: very dipressing enviroment
I worked for 18 yrs,the whole time I was depressed, very much discriminated from the French Canadian colleagues,The management and the HR were doing nothing to improve the situation.
I was harassed constantly from my boss, abuse verbally,bullied....total mess.
You constantly have to look over your shoulder because you never know who is going to back stub – more...  you.
We were not allowed to take our sick days and if we had to take them we had to speak with the boss.
We were observed from the boss how long we talk on the phone.
I was so much diminished in this company that I hate them all.
I know allot of other people that are feeling this way and their life is being totally distorted because of the constant difficult conditions we were faced for so long. – less

Leader in Industry, but lacks ability to effectively manage talent in the workforce.
Project Controller - Financial Analyst (Current Employee), West Mifflin, PA –
I do not have typical days. I manage all of the financials of large international manufacturing/transportation projects. I have learned to manage multiple responsibilities and meet short deadlines while providing accurate information. I enjoy working as part of team to meet the project objectives of timely delivery and financial success.

Employee friendly, and demanding
Light Rail Operator/Customer Service Agent (Former Employee), Jamaica, NY –
Pros: business lunches, compensation for extra hours
Cons: lots of standing, not enough breaks to compensate
Demands are made daily due to the nature of the business regarding transporation of travelers and airport employees, but for the most part the company is welcoming and employee friendly.

Great compensation and benefits; volatile work environment
Customer Service Representative / Buyer (Former Employee), Wichita, KS –
Pros: great compensation and benefits
Cons: volatile work environment
Bombardier is a great place to work for a person who can handle the stress of a volatile work environment. While employed at Bombardier, I several lay-offs in many different departments. However, the compensation and benefits were what made it difficult to leave the company.
