Poor Management at all levels

Good, hard working people at the local level but poor management from there on up. They tend to make many knee jerk decisions without regard to the consequences

Accounts Payable Clerk (Former Employee) –  Fargo, NDDecember 16, 2016
One of my favorite past jobs. It was a lot of fun, the employees were super nice and helpful. Pay could have been higher, but it was manageable for an associates degree.

Account Manager (Current Employee) –  Minot, NDApril 10, 2016
Fun atmosphere, great benefit package. It's an ESOP company, so the employees are the owners. I've met a lot of people at BSE, and most are the same, whether it's the VP of the whole company, or a warehouse worker. Great company

Mundane and monotonous.
Customer Supply Chain (Current Employee) –  Fargo, NDMarch 26, 2016
Each individual's job responsibilities are 80% data management and number crunching no matter their title due to the outdated systems.

The ESOP is a ruse.
Pros
Helpful coworkers.
Cons
Poor compensation rates. ZERO flexibility in work hours.

Fast paced and plenty to learn
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) –  Hobbs, NM 88240February 8, 2016
Working in the warehouse at BSE was always active work, scanning products that were received in and accounting that what was purchased was received and writing up any discrepancies and mailing them to the corporate office. Putting the new items away on the shelves provided another set of eyes to verify the correct product and correct amount were received. When work tickets would be printed the necessary items would get picked, then another co-worker would need to verify the ticket to ensure the correct item and quantity were picked for shipping or pick-up. The hardest part of the job happened when the counter sales would call for help, all free associates would go up front to help with customers, pulling the orders was fine but I was still learning how to write up the tickets for processing and accept payment. Most of the co-workers were fun to work with, many of what I learned came from fellow co-workers due to the leads and supervisors being busy. It was also one of the things I did not enjoy about this branch, being such a small branch of the company it took a long time for leads and supervisors to teach new workers much, any work reviews were often weeks late if they happened at all. However, it was a fun, fast paced job that, while it left much to be desired, it provided a lot of learning experiences.
Pros
Esop, very active
Cons

Great workers in warehouse if managed with respect. Did not work there long enough to give too much information. Overall employees work toward common goals. Better training and communication needed. Overall decent company with good benefits.

Warehouse employee (Current Employee) –  Dickinson, NDMay 31, 2015
The supervisors who work with me are tuned in to employees and their relationship to life issues. They are willing to work with you and help you when it is needed and to challenge you to go beyond your comfort zone. They are open to what works for you as you are not just an employee, you are a co-owner of the company.

The job itself is challenging if you have not worked in a situation like it before but that is where your work ethic comes in. You must work at the job and learn as much as you can and that is encouraged.

I like the job and the people who I work with overall. That is what makes going to work a positive part of life.
Pros
Excellent benefits and working conditions.
