We have been extremely fortunate over the past 25 years to receive the kind of generous community support that has enabled us to offer a wide array of services that are indeed unique in a small, isolated community such as Borrego Springs. Private donations in the past year alone have given us the exceptional opportunity to offer digital X-ray and to open a full-time, fully staffed pharmacy in central Borrego. More recently, private contributions have brought us to the halfway point in our latest effort to build an assisted-living facility in town that will provide post-hospital and convalescent care for our elderly residents.
Because of the astronomical costs of health care today, many uninsured people in our region would be unable to see a doctor or afford basic health care were it not for Federally Qualified Health Centers such as the Borrego Medical Center. Since acquiring federal status in 2002, the medical center's mission has broadened far beyond the borders of the Borrego Springs community.
Today, our goal is to reach out to underserved populations in our region and provide medical care to all who seek it, regardless of socio-economic background or the ability to pay. Anyone who walks through our front door is guaranteed the right to see a qualified health provider - a doctor -- and receive the best medical treatment we can provide.
To accomplish this mission, the Borrego Community Health Foundation has acquired five fully operational health clinics in San Diego and Riverside counties. Operating out of headquarters at the Borrego Medical Center, the foundation now operates clinics at Cathedral City, Coachella Valley, Julian, El Cajon and Thermal. This expansion has enabled us to broaden our patient base as a Federally Qualified Health Center and serve an increasing number of patients who are eligible for Medicare or Medi-CAL.
We also have expanded our range of specialty services and programs to assure quality medical care for people from all walks of life. We have enhanced our focus on preventive health and programs to manage diabetes and chronic illness. At the same time, we can offer patients at our satellite clinics direct access to visiting specialists in such fields as chiropractic, dermatology, mental health, pediatrics, podiatry, prenatal care, reproductive health and women's health. Furthermore, a two-way video conferencing system known as Telemedicine allows patients to consult with specialists throughout the region without leaving the comfort of their local network clinics.
Thanks to the people of Borrego Springs, the Borrego Community Health Foundation has opened a new chapter that promises to deliver an even wider range of medical services and quality care to our region. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
