Great learning experience with great coworkers.
Customer Service and Sales Associate (Former Employee), Deptford, NJ – April 26, 2013
Pros: great coworkers, descent breaks
Cons: slacking coworkers, far away from food court no time to get lunch
A typical day at work was good. The usual folding, cleaning, assisting, opening and closing, and cashiering.
I learned how to handle a new client. Working in the Misses department gave me the oppotunity to grow as a worker. The management was great. The hardest part of the job was being pregnant and lifting heavy boxes. The most enjoyable part of the – more... job was working. – less

Pros: great co workers
Cons: bad management, unfair, short breaks, disrespectful
i had gotten written up for my first time of not being able to come in on a day i was scheduled and i did not receive a warning. this person just wrote me up. the management SUCKS They Have No Respect For Their Co workers. they make you work practically every weekend, they Dont understand that things do come up and things do happen and they just expect – more... your life to be perfect but Thats not how life is anymore. They Pick favorites and they are very unfair. i wouldnt recommend working here unless your like 50 years of age. its not a good work place for teenagers. . – less

Creating a Funn and Warm Atmosphere for great Shopping Experience.
Makeup Artist (Former Employee), Albany, NY – March 15, 2013
Pros: always something new.
Cons: stock. sometimes you just run out..
Coming in with a postive attitude it usually set the day. I have learned over the years to listen to what the Clients say. And address that concern 1st. And of course showing or sampling how to get the most out of your concern.
Co-Workers. Just making sure we are here for the Clients and not ourselvels.

The hardest part of the job is when you can't – more... give the clients what they want due to stock. That is why it is important to know what's comfortable to that product. – less

Okay place to work
Lancome Beauty Advisor (Former Employee), Bensalem, PA – March 12, 2013
Pros: great team of people
Cons: don't get pregnant
Everything was great unil I got pregnant. Then management and Human Resources ended up terminating me without actually terminating me. They said it was a possibility for me to come back. I guess, they didn't want me to be there long enough to qualify for FMLA. Otherwise, I worked with a great team. I worked for Lancome and made record sales and gained – more... many clients for the store. – less

Fun workplace
Cashier/Sales Associate (Former Employee), Johnstown, PA – February 3, 2013
Mostly everyone in the workplace was very out-going and very nice to customers as well as I was which made for a very easy season. Most of the days were busy as it was just seasonal work. I learned different things on the register. (ex. how to sign customers up for credit, locate merchandise in the store or other stores..etc). Most of the managers were – more... very helpful but some acted like they didn't care and wouldn't always help when needed. Also one of the high up managers were very rude and acted out in front of customers which shouldn't happen. There were no really hard parts to this job, it was all very easy, and i love working with others especially for the public. some people would even say they would rather come to my register because i acted like a friend to them and helped them very much and hearing that would make for a great day. – less

I liked it when they kept me on a certain task instead of moving me from department to department without allowing me to finish projects that I had started.

Dept/Area Manager (Former Employee), Salisbury, MD – January 15, 2013
Pros: paid weekly, co-workers. that's about it.
Cons: bad upper management, lack of communication. lack of help within the dept. not enough coverage to take breaks
I worked there as a Area Manager for both seasonal and housewares. Management worked you like you were a robot, expected way too much from you. The pay was good, but not for all the extra work they required. Little training ( other than register). Never got to take breaks. Management lacked communication through each other (each member requested you – more... do something different). There was room to move up in the store, only because the turnover was high. Benefits were good if you could afford them (135 for single associate bi-weekly). Definite favoritism. If you were in the 'in' crowd, you could get away with murder. Extremely fast paced with never enough help. POS systems way outdated. it was actually embarrasing to use them in front of customers. the list goes on and on....... – less

Needs new management!
Cosmetics Beauty Advisor (Former Employee), Deptford, NJ – January 15, 2013
They pay pretty fairly and I also received commission which was great. My main problem with this store is that the human resources manager is a horrible person. She is terribly rude and mean. She has favorites and doesn't even try to hide it. I left because I could not stand to work under her anymore. Also the cosmetics manager has no idea what she – more... is doing and might as well not be there at all. – less

Sales Associate (Former Employee), Media, PA – December 19, 2012
Pros: i guess the discounts
Cons: management, being yelled and cussed at by the customers
job isnt meant for everyone. almost everyone who worked or is still working there, has had to obtain a second job to make ends meet.

i guess if you are into getting the discounts, then it makes it worth while to work there.

Enjoyable place to work
Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee), Lancaster, PA – December 13, 2012
Pros: great atmosphere
Cons: not always busy
A typical day at work is helping customers find the coat/dress that they are looking for. When I started this job I didn't have as much experience, but now I know how to deal with customers that are either very difficult or easy to deal with. As far as the people I work with go. They all seem to be pretty easy going, enjoyable people to work with. The – more... hardest part of the job would have to be when it isn't busy. The most enjoyable part is getting to help those that come to do their shopping at Boscov's. – less
