Pros: Being around the kids and the excitement they had
Cons: no cons at all
Worked at Camp Mendocino in the woods with teens in the dining room. Helping these teens to be responsible. Management was great and the co workers were energetic. The hardest part about this job was leaving it. The most enjoyable part of this job was the enjoyment on all the kids face.
Office Manager (Former Employee), Fredericksburg, VA – September 9, 2015
Pros: A low cost facility for children.
Cons: financial struggles of the organization

Front Desk Coordinator (Former Employee), Bristol, TN – September 8, 2015
Pros: Hour breaks
A typical day of work this summer started around 9 in the morning, I would come in and start taking attendance of the children that were already there. Throughout the day I would continue to put in attendance and also work on other documents. Management was okay, we lost one of our managers halfway through the summer but we made it. My coworkers got along very well even while under stress. The hardest part of the job was probably trying to find the kids at the end of the day to take them to their parents (the kids were in different age groups/rooms). The most enjoyable part about the job was working with the kids and being able to help them grow and learn.
To Counselor (Former Employee), Comfort, TX – September 8, 2015
Pros: enjoyed it
Cons: not enough hours
I was at the boys and girls club about 3 years ago. I enjoyed working with all the kids in summer and the fun place we took them. Once school started the hours were decreased and I could not live off of that and support my family. the starting pay was okay.

Counselor (Former Employee), Washington, DC – September 4, 2015
Pros: seeing them enjoy their selves on field trips
Working at the boys and girls club was very enjoyable. we had our educational moments and moments of fun activity. I learned that every child learns differently and sometimes it could get frustrating for them. My coworkers were very flexible with them also. The hardest part of the job for me was when I wanted to just give the answer seeing how they would shut down and overwhelm their selves with confusion and frustration. the best part as seeing them progress and grow stronger mentally.
