This is a great organization for kids of all ages, a safe and fun place to be during the summer or after school. Provides a nice learning opportunity for someone still in school to get into the workforce for a summer job.

Fun job with great children
Server (Former Employee), Ruston, La – December 5, 2012
Pros: working with children in a great atmosphere
Cons: the job was only for summer
A typical day at this job consisted of arriving on time and getting everything ready for lunch. during luch I would serve all campers and staff. after the campers and staff finished lunch, I enjoyed listening to the camp songs that they sang. I would have a couple hours to clean and prepare for snack. my co-workers at this job were very friendly and – more... helpful. My most enjoyable part of the job was talking to the children while the hardest part was leaving them. – less

Fun learning environment
Program Coordinator (Current Employee), Rome, GA – November 6, 2012
Pros: the children, helping environment, co-workers, fun
Cons: part-time, no benefits, minimum wage
A typical work day is very laid back. I help the members with their homework and/ or give them something productive to do during power hour. After power hour they basically play, watch a movie or participate in a program. I love working with my co-workers and the members. The most enjoyable part about my job is working with the white cards (5 years – more... old members). The hardest part about my job is making my group follow directions and holding their attention. – less

Boys & Girls Club is an excellent company.
Art Director (Former Employee), Saint Helena, CA – October 8, 2012
Pros: freedom to choose my art project.
Cons: pay was not especially great & not enough hours.
I'd show up about 2 hours before the children got there to prepare the art project I'd brought for the day. Then, 75-100 children would come in and out of the art room and choose if they wanted to do the project. I learned how to keep a great deal of kids under control in a large room, which was difficult at times, given the age range was 5-14 years – more... old. I thoroughly enjoyed creating/shopping for and presenting new art projects. Making the children happy was joyous. – less

Pros: awesome students and coworkers
Cons: no breaks
On a typical day at work I meet with my students, plan activities, supervise them, and assist them with homework. Working here I've learned to adjust my lesson plans to fit the needs of the student's different levels of learning. My co-workers and management are very accomodating. The most enjoyable part of my job is being with my amazing students. – more... The hardest part is making sure all of my students needs are being met. – less

Project Coordinator (Former Employee), Peshawbestown, MI – September 26, 2012
Pros: working with kids
Cons: no breaks, no days off
mornings are usually catching up on paper work, and setting up activities for afternoon. It was very interactive, educational, and rewarding to offer a place for kids to come to after school.

Fun and a learning experience
Administrative Assistant/Team member (Former Employee), Oakland, CA – September 25, 2012
A typical day at work would be working at the front desk for 2 hours helping children sign in, answering the phone and assisting parents dropping and picking up they're children. After 2 hours at the front desk I would go to the kitchen to prepare a snack for children remaining after 4pm. After snack is served I move to the homework room where I assist – more... students completing homework. After homework hour there is free time and arts and crafts in which I do not assist with. I stay at the front counter until it is time for me to leave. My manager was very funny and understanding which made it easy to ask questions if every I needed to. The hardest part of the job was watching all the children at once making sure they completed whatever it was they were assigned. I the most enjoyable part of this job was getting to interact with all those bright faces and minds everyday. – less
