activity leader
Activity Leader (Former Employee), Bakersfield, CAApril 3, 2014
Pretty simple job: you create lesson plans two weeks in advance. You turn homework logs monthly or every 3 months. You are assigned to a certain school for the school year unless you are a sub. You start out at 9 an hour and can get raises in December but won't be effective until the new year. Your social life should be compatible with this job due – more... to it only being 4 hours and after school hours. You get weekends off of course, but you do need to find a summer job. Overall a good place to work at. – less

Volunteer Tutor (Former Employee), Hickory, NCMarch 24, 2014
Help children at the club with their homework and helped the coordinator set up activities. I learn that everyone is different regardless of where you're from or how you're raise. Hardest part of the job was working with kids who were in middle school because they think they know it all. Most enjoyable part is putting a smile on the face of children – more... who has learn something new everyday I'm there. – less

Program Aid (Former Employee), Oxnard, CAMarch 24, 2014
Pros: field trips on fridays
Cons: lack of management, not structured
This job position was something that I was not expecting. I had an amazing time being a teacher over the summer to children of ages 5 to 8. It is a challenge trying to get kids that don't know who you are, to try to listen to you. My co-workers tips and advice on how to get the kids to listen helped a lot and I really enjoyed going on school trips with – more... them on Fridays. I enjoyed my job because I got to get a glimpse of what it's like to be around children and get to learn how they interact with other students. – less

First real experience with adversity
Mentor (Former Employee), Waverly, IAMarch 22, 2014
I enjoyed volunteering as a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club because I was able to work with younger children up to teenage years. I volunteered with a wide spectrum of things, from helping kids with their homework, to making crafts and increasing creativity, to playing basketball and jumping rope with the kids. I enjoyed learning about their home – more... situations because it really gave me an understanding of who they were and where they had come from. The kids there provided for me just as much as I provided for them. A little girl made me a heart-felt bracelet with significant meaning and I will always keep it to remember my time and experiences spent with her! :) – less
