This place is a shame to all non-profits. Not only do they not care about their employees, have 0 to no management, they also cover up managerial mistakes that can possibly get the company to shut down.
The director has no clue about anything and should have retired 30 years ago. She did a lot to start the company but does nothing anymore of importance or to help the company grow in the right direction. She does not care about her employees and even though she is passionate about brain injuries, she is not running the company to help it be successful after her.
The board of directors are not in the picture. They make changes to the structure without knowing how the company is (in this case - NOT) run.
With the exception of 2 competent managers, everyone else is a failure at what they do. The so called HR manager does nothing but payroll. Which she cannot do correctly or legally. People have been paid incorrectly multiple times. Once - can be a mistake, twice - can be a mistake, but her mistakes seem to happen regularly. Instead of admitting her mistakes, she covers it up. Whether that be by letting people go threatening peoples jobs. If someone does go to her with a complaint, instead of keeping it confidential (as a real HR manager would do) she tends to gossip about it around the office. Instead of investigating complaints about managers made my multiple employees, she decides to reprimand the employee so she would not have to deal with finding a new manager.
As far as management - even if good managers make suggestions, the HR manager goes against them simply because it was not her idea. The executive director has no control over anything and does not pay attention to what actually happens within the organization
It should be clear that if a department is falling apart - its because of the manager not the employees. There is no reprimanding a manager for lack of marketing, organizational, leadership, or communication skills. The manager who communicates with the senate probably would not even be able to spell half the words in this review is left to represent the organization. However, firing him is out of the question because it is too much work to find a replacement. The company does what is easy for them and deals with the mess later. well - to be honest - the company, at this pace, does not have much of a future. So dealing with this mess will be easy when the organization looses funding from the state (for programs they no longer have).
Simply put - if you work here. Plan on disliking it within a few weeks and hating it in a few months. The company has no foresight, no management, and hence no future. Even people who have had brain injuries have never heard of this company even though they claim they've been around for over 30 years. And if someone with a brain injury walks in here the manager in charge of meeting with them is too lazy to help.
Lets not even mention the lack of benefits and a ridiculous time frame for full time salaried employees. This place is a disaster.
