Position Summary: The Development Associate, working side-by-side with the Director of Development in a two-person office, will have primary responsibility for accurate record-keeping, office operations and administration, and information systems. Partner with the Director of Development to build and expand sources of revenue, including individual and institutional funders. This is an ideal job for a personable, mission-driven, tech savvy, highly energetic and independent professional with nonprofit development experience.

Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities of the Development Associate include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Director of Development, the Board, the Executive Director, Staff, and individuals served to implement strategies to expand and diversify funding sources.
  • Prepare high-quality donor correspondence, reports, mailings, and acknowledgements required to support ongoing fundraising activities.
  • Strategize, design, and execute high impact annual fund campaigns, including membership programs.
  • Responsible for the efficient planning, implementation, and logistics of special events.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets.

Qualifications: Strong candidates for this position will have the following characteristics:

  • Previous development experience in an entrepreneurial nonprofit environment.
  • Outstanding written and inter-personal communications skills.
  • Accurate, results-oriented with an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational and management skills with attention to detail.
  • Marketing and communications experience valuable to increase donor cultivation and revenue generation.
  • Knowledge about all facets of a development office, including being able to interface with the business office, track expenses, create budgets, and familiarity with charitable giving regulations.
  • Proven ability to do think analytically.
  • Highly-skilled in Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint and database systems.
  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player; to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Reliable transportation needed.
